Default Have you ever been ridiculed?

Have you ever been ridiculed for any of your television disc purchases simply because other people that you have met before have tried to force their ideas upon you as to what you should get and what you should like?

For example, let's say that you are a comedy fan-- say, of older comedies like "Mary Tyler Moore" and "Taxi," both of which, based on what I've seen of them on DVD, I happen to like and enjoy. If you purchased any of the releases of either or both (or any other older comedy like "Lucy" or thereabouts), have you ever been ridiculed for those purchases by those people who would say something to the effect that you should have gotten stuff like "King of Queens" or "Seinfeld" or other newer/more recent comedies, some of which did not/may not have fit your tastes as to comedies or television series?

no not really. although what i purchase is my choice and because i like the show. i'd never force anyone, be it a friend or whomever, to buy something, just because i told them to do so. and i've never ridiculed them for that. i may have certain opinions on the show, but those are personal and i would never shove them down their throats

The replies are understandable, and I appreciate them. I will admit that I have attempted to convince my brother to like "Hawaii Five-O," and in turn, he tried to convince me to like "Little House." I suppose that the feeling is mutual-- he doesn't like the former, I don't like the latter. I decided to leave it at that.

I try not to ridicule anyone's likes and dislikes. That's just mean. If I want someone to see something, or try it out. I'll usually LOAN it to them first. If they don't like it, then why should I worry about it. There are shows I don't like too, but I'm willing to give most things a try.

I've not actually been rediculed but people have given me strange looks and made comments about my having Punky Brewster. It's none of their business but I just say that I like 80's shows (which I do). I personally have rediculed (in a joking way of course) my friend who buys stupid reality shows on DVD. I hate relaity shows & don't allow them to be shown on my tv lol. I mean like Hogan Knows best, etc., not the educational/documentary type reality shows like Dirty Jobs.

I've never been ridiculed about my DVD collection, but many times I've been ridiculed if I mention a certain TV show. I have a friend at work who absolutely HATES Jerry Seinfeld, but I just let her talk. And then when she mentions the shows that she likes, I just listen... I don't think it's right to judge people's likes and dislikes. At least not the way I've been accustomed to.

I have never really been ridiculed about my DVD collection or what I buy...and even if they tried I wouldnt listen or care...but people have made a few snide comments about the actors or characters that I like on a certain show for example a close friend and I are bigg fans of 21 jump street and although I liked the whole show my fave episodes are the ones with Richard Grieco who plays Dennis Booker...and I am NOT a bigg fan of Johnny Depp...but he is...and always says he cannot believe that I would like this has been over Johnny who is an awesome actor....blah blah blah...for the most part I just let him talk cause I dont care and dont wanna waste my energy fighting cause its sooo not worth it....Okay for the most part it doesnt bugg me but if you start Trashing My Corey H...now thats a different story...LOL
