Default Dan's parents.

Could someone fill me in on what happened between Dan's parents? They had obviously divorced, and Dan's father was living with another woman, while he was supposed to pay alimony to Dan's mother. But did we get to see their divorce?

I don't ever remember seeing his parents; just Rosanne's mom and God was she annoying!

If I recall correctly, the story is that Dan's parents divorced while he was still in high school and he and Rosanne were together by then. Supposedly his mother was mentally ill and his father was a neglectful salesman that Dan forever blamed for his mother's troubles.

Dan warned Crystal that she would be lonely after she married Ed (his father) and he was right! He came home long enough to knock her up twice and then abandon her for the salesman job just as he did Dan's mother. I NEVER liked his father. I thought he was perfect for the "salesman position" character because he was FULL OF IT!

They showed Dan's mom in one episode that i can recall
Season 2 "We Gather Together"
The Conner clan gathers for an unforgettable Thanksgiving dinner, in which Jackie tries to hide the fact that she is a policewoman from her parents.
But his mom didn't seem mentally ill , i think its something they thought to add later in the show.

Yeah, she seemed just fine then. It was later that they decided to throw the mental illness into the mix, probably to give Dan and his dad something new to argue about. Then in the last season after they won the lotto, they brought Debbie Reynolds in to protray his whacked out mother who actually escapes from the looney bin and tries to kill Dan several times because she wasn't taking her meds. I must admit, I found that this was one of the few season 9 episodes that I thought was funny. Debbie was so funny!

I like Debbie playing Dan's mom. I really didn't like Dan's dad and I felt sorry for Crystal after she married him.
