The Healing Process: Magda's Story

"McCafferty... Mm-hmm... Well, yeah, she- Have you heard anything about her?" Kate paused, then shut her eyes and shook her head slowly. "Are you sure?" As she heard the confirmation, the phone slowly began to slip through her fingers, but she suddenly put it back up. "Yes, sorry... Okay, bye." She hung up the phone. Guess I'd better call Jinny... She's going to feel awful. I could probably give her some time off. I should probably take some time off. Well, I'd better call her now... She picked up the phone, and reluctantly dialed Jinny's phone number.

Teddy woke up to the phone ringing. He gently shook Jinny, and she slowly woke up.
"What is it?" She asked drowsily, after giving him a quick kiss on the lips.
"The phone's ringing, should I get it?"
"Yes, please..."
He reached over and picked up the phone. "Hello?" All he heard was a dial tone, so he hung up.
"Who was it?" she asked, with her eyes closed.
"I don't know, they hung up..."
"I just hope they don't call again..." She wrapped her arms around him, and almost instantly went back to sleep.

"Hello?"
Kate paused, not sure of who was on the phone. "Is Jinny there?"
"Yeah, but she's asleep, can I take a message?"
"Wait. Who is this?"
"Um, Theodore Blumenthal."
"Theodore? What are you doing at Jinny's house, I thought you two were through..."
"Well, we talked last night, Jinny said she had a rough day at the hospital."
"Yeah... Could you please tell her that something has happened to Magda?"

When Jinny woke up, she saw Teddy sitting on the edge of her bed, fully clothed. "Hey, Teddy, what's up?" He looked down, and she saw his eyes sparkle with unshed tears. "Please, Theodore..." She sat up with her blanket wrapped around her, and put her hand on his. "You can tell me. Please? I hate seeing you like this..."
Teddy looked back up at her. "It's... Jin, I hate to tell you this..." She looked at him, confused. He took a deep breath. "It's Magda. She..." He shook his head. "The doctors, they... Well, she had a blood clot. It cut off her circulation, and she couldn't get much oxygen in her. That, on top of all the blood she lost earlier..."
"So... What are you trying to tell me?"
"She's dead, Jinny. Gabriel called Kate, and she just called me. When he called, he said they were trying cardiopulmonary shock, but the doctors said it probably wouldn't work, it was a last resort..." He paused, waiting for Jinny to speak, or move. But she just sat there, staring at him. "Come on, Jin, say something, please. I know how much this has to hurt."
"Why would it hurt?" Teddy sat there looking confused, so she continued. "She's not dead, what are you talking about?" Jinny smiled. "Great way to wake me up, I almost thought you were serious!" Teddy just looked at her with pity. "Hey, don't look at me like that, you're giving me the creeps. And stop your 'crying' because it's not working."
Teddy whispered, "I'm so sorry..."
She then stood up, still holding the blanket. "Get out."
"What?"
"Get out! You said you wouldn't lie to me again, and now you're lying about something as big as this? And treating it like a joke!" She pointed to the door, and said coldly. "Get... Out..."
"Jin, I-"
"What part of that do you not understand?"
"I'm sorry I had to tell you, Jinny." He stood up and left.
Jinny smiled. "Now I'll just have to call Magda." She picked up the phone and dialed her number. After twenty five rings, she hung up dejectedly. She sat down on the bed, and cried.

Jeanie, so sooooo sorry I used "The Healing Process" but I couldn't think of anything, and I had the name in mind before I read your story, but I can change it if u want, ko? aak, gotta go, buh-byezies, hope u like!

"We have a pulse!" Dr. Bruce Glover said. "Now, keep her monitored carefully, if anything else happens and I'm away, tell me ASAP, okay?
"Okay. Where's her husband?" another doctor asked.
"I think he had to make a phone call, I'll go get him and tell him the good news." Bruce walks out the door, leaving a battered, bloody, but not yet beat Magda on the operating table. When Bruce turned the corner to the nearest phone, he saw Ben crying in a chair, and Gabriel beside him, hugging him. "Mr. Hererra?"
Gabriel looked up. "Yes?"
"I think I have some good news."
Gabriel stood up, but not expecting the one bit of news he most wanted to hear. "What is it?"
Bruce smiled. "We got her back."
Gabriel paused, waiting for the information to really soak in and take root. Magda's not dead... He smiled. "Magda's not dead!" He shook Bruce's hand. "Hey, that's great! When can I see her?"
"Well, we'll need to get her stable first, but then you can. Right now you might want to call family members, or anyone else that might want to know, okay?"
"Yeah, I gotta call her mom... But thank you so much!"
Bruce smiled again. "Anytime, you take care now." He walked back towards the room.

When Magda woke up, the first thing she noticed was how lightheaded she was. Please don't let me pass out again... She opened her eyes, but had to shut them again because of how bright the room seemed to her. She tried breathing deeply, but it hurt her, and she grimaced.
"Magda, you awake?"
Her voice came out a hoarse whisper. "I guess... What happened?" She slowly opened her eyes, taking time for them to adjust.
"When they got you here after you were hurt, you were in shock and had lost a lot of blood, and it did some things to your circulation. A blood clot formed, and cut off a lot of oxygen, but the doctors think you're fixed now." He smiled. "I'm glad you're okay."
"Where's Ben?"
"He's at his grandmother's house, they've been here all day, and she thought Ben should go home. Is it alright? I could call them and tell them to-"
"No... Let him rest. What time is it?"
"It's about ten thirty."
"Don't you have to play tonight?" She coughed a little, and Gabriel looked at her with concern.
"What, are you crazy? I'm not going to leave you alone here like this!"
Magda smiled. "You can go, I'll be fine. Gabriel, I-"
A nurse knocked on the door, then opened it. "Hi, I'm Betty, I need to take your blood pressure real quick, please."
"Okay."
"I'm glad to see you're awake, you had some people worried there for a while." She smiled, and put the cuff on her arm. After she was through taking it, she slightly frowned as she put down the numbers.
"What, what's wrong?"
"Oh, it's just a little low, that's all. But I had a feeling it would be, after losing all that blood earlier."
"Does she need a transfusion or anything?" Gabriel asked.
"Oh, no, I don't think so. Just maybe four or five days in here can make people good as new. So, how are you feeling right now? A little sore?"
"Well, yeah, I'm sore on my shoulder, and I have a headache. But I'm feeling a little dizzy, too."
Betty frowned. "How dizzy?"
I couldn't walk, I'm so dizzy... "Not much, I bet it's just from sleeping so long, that happens sometimes. I'm fine."
"Okay, well, I'll leave you two alone, then. Buh-bye." She walked out the door.
"Well, Mag, I'd better go, but be sure and call me at least every hour, unless you're asleep, okay?"
She smiled. "Yeah, sure. Bye, love you."
"I love you, too." He kissed her, then left.

When Jinny woke up the next morning, she found out that she had fallen asleep where she was lying after she realized what had happened to Magda. Magda... I killed her! It was all my fault... She started to cry again, but then stopped. Jinny, pull yourself together! Go get ready, go to work, and try and take your mind off of her...

Kate slowly pulled into the division. How am I going to tell everyone what happened to Magda? And I hope Theodore got to Jinny with the message... She parked the car, and walked in.
When she opened the door to the division, CD critically, but jokingly looked at her.
"You're late, McCafferty." She smiled at Kate, but Kate didn't smile back.
"Yeah, sorry, there were some problems I had to take care of."
CD frowned, it wasn't like Kate to be late, then have no real excuse. "Is anything wrong?"
"Well..." She sighed. "I might as well tell you now." She gestured to her office, and they both walked in there. Angela looked over, and saw Kate looking down and shaking her head, and CD suddenly sit down.
Oh, boy, this must be bad if CD is acting like that... CD walked out of the office, with tears running down her face.
"Angela..." CD said, choked up. "Come with me. I have to tell you something. Kate's going to announce it, but she wanted her close friends to know first..."
"What?" Angela asked, standing up. "Is something wrong with Magda or Jinny? They're not here yet." Jinny walked in, looking red-eyed and sleep deprived. "Magda... What's wrong?"
"I'll tell you in the bathroom." CD grabbed Angela's arm and pulled her out the door.

Hope y'all like! Sry 4 not posting more sooner, school just started and we've been bombarded with work, but I should be posting again tomorrow or the next day, depends on what kind of mood I'm in. Like, for instance, right now. I posted because I ate breakfast 2 hours ago, I'm almost asleep, and I have homework over the weekend on the second day of school. I thought this might cheer me up, which it has. Well, g2g talk to Rachel, buh-byezies!

Great... Now probably everyone in the division knows... Jinny walked over to her desk and sat down. She felt someone tap her shoulder, and turned around, almost expecting to see Magda there. Instead, she saw Kate's face. "What do you want?"
"Jinny, I... I just wanted to say I'm sorry, and I know how close you were to Magda. I was thinking that maybe you could use some time off, or something. I told Theodore, but he must have forgotten to tell you."
He didn't forget, I just didn't let him. "I'm staying here. I want to find Mike and Vance, and get them in jail for what they did, okay?" Jinny said, a little agitated, although she didn't know why.
Kate put a hand on her shoulder. "Fine, Jinny. Listen, if you ever want to talk or anything, just call me, okay?"
"Okay." Kate walked away, and Jinny put her head in her hands. I swear on my mother's grave that I'll catch them...

When Magda woke up, the first thing she thought of was Ben. She picked up the phone, and dialed.
"Hello?" Gabriel answered on the seventh ring, clearly having just woken up.
"Hi, Gabriel, is Ben up yet?"
"Yeah, one second." She heard a click as he sat the phone down, and his muffled voice, yelling, "Ben!" She then heard eager footsteps, and another click as he picked up the phone, and it banged against the table.
"Hello, mom?"
"Hey, Papi!" She smiled at his voice. "How are you doing?"
He paused. "I miss you, mommy. When are you coming home?"
"Oh, in a few days... I miss you, too," she said quietly. A nurse walked in her room. "Ben, I'm sorry, I have to go right now. I promise to call you back soon, okay?"
She heard a sniff. "Okay, mom," he said, in a quavery voice.
"Hey, I promise I'll be out soon, okay?"
"Yeah..."
"Bye, Ben, I love you."
"I love you too..." They hung up.
"Hi," a nurse said, "how are you feeling?"
"As good as can be expected, I guess."
"Well, I have some good news or bad news, it depends on what you were expecting." She paused.
"Well?"
"We have to keep you in here for about a week," I'd better call Ben back...
"but you could get out a few days sooner or later, depending on your recovery rate. Sound good to you?"
Magda bit her lip. "Okay."
"Well, I'll let you get some R&R." She walked out.
Well, I've just got to get better quickly, then.

Two Weeks Later

Magda walked up to the door of her division for the first time since her "little incident," as she liked to call it. She opened the door, and stopped in her tracks. All of the lights were out, and no one was in the room, that she could see. "Okay, you guys, what's going on?" She smiled in spite of herself, and took another step inside.
"Suprise!!!" All the lights turned on, and everyone jumped out at her.
"Oh my gosh, you guys, you scared me!" Magda yelled, and then started laughing. Jinny ran up and hugged her. "Jinny, not so hard!" She paused. "Oh, what the heck!" She hugged Jinny back. After they hugged, Magda backed up and looked around. She saw all of the familiar faces, all standing around her, and even a few people she didn't know, too. And there, right in front, was Kate.
Kate walked up to Magda, and smiled at her. "Welcome back, Magda."

Kinda corny ending, huh? LoL, I know that they probably wouldn't do that in a real cop place thingy, but oh well, they do here!

"We have to keep you in here for about a week," I'd better call Ben back... "but you could get out a few days sooner or later, depending on your recovery rate. Sound good to you?" Magda bit her lip. "Okay." "Well, I'll let you get some R&R." She walked out. Well, I've just got to get better quickly, then. Two Weeks Later Magda walked up to the door of her division for the first time since her "little incident," as she liked to call it. She opened the door, and stopped in her tracks. All of the lights were out, and no one was in the room, that she could see. "Okay, you guys, what's going on?" She smiled in spite of herself, and took another step inside. "Suprise!!!" All the lights turned on, and everyone jumped out at her. "Oh my gosh, you guys, you scared me!" Magda yelled, and then started laughing. Jinny ran up and hugged her. "Jinny, not so hard!" She paused. "Oh, what the heck!" She hugged Jinny back. After they hugged, Magda backed up and looked around. She saw all of the familiar faces, all standing around her, and even a few people she didn't know, too. And there, right in front, was Kate. Kate walked up to Magda, and smiled at her. "Welcome back, Magda." Kinda corny ending, huh? LoL, I know that they probably wouldn't do that in a real cop place thingy, but oh well, they do here! Miss you, fanfic!

"Now, keep her monitored carefully, if anything else happens and I'm away, tell me ASAP, okay? "Okay. Where's her husband?" another doctor asked. "I think he had to make a phone call, I'll go get him and tell him the good news." Bruce walks out the door, leaving a battered, bloody, but not yet beat Magda on the operating table. When Bruce turned the corner to the nearest phone, he saw Ben crying in a chair, and Gabriel beside him, hugging him. "Mr. Hererra?" Gabriel looked up. "Yes?" "I think I have some good news." Gabriel stood up, but not expecting the one bit of news he most wanted to hear. "What is it?" Bruce smiled. "We got her back." Gabriel paused, waiting for the information to really soak in and take root. Magda's not dead... He smiled. "Magda's not dead!" He shook Bruce's hand. "Hey, that's great! When can I see her?" "Well, we'll need to get her stable first, but then you can. Right now you might want to call family members, or anyone else that might want to know, okay?" "Yeah, I gotta call her mom... But thank you so much!" Bruce smiled again. "Anytime, you take care now." He walked back towards the room. When Magda woke up, the first thing she noticed was how lightheaded she was. Please don't let me pass out again... She opened her eyes, but had to shut them again because of how bright the room seemed to her. She tried breathing deeply, but it hurt her, and she grimaced. "Magda, you awake?" Her voice came out a hoarse whisper. "I guess... What happened?" She slowly opened her eyes, taking time for them to adjust. "When they got you here after you were hurt, you were in shock and had lost a lot of blood, and it did some things to your circulation. A blood clot formed, and cut off a lot of oxygen, but the doctors think you're fixed now." He smiled. "I'm glad you're okay." "Where's Ben?" "He's at his grandmother's house, they've been here all day, and she thought Ben should go home. Is it alright? I could call them and tell them to-" "No... Let him rest. What time is it?" "It's about ten thirty." "Don't you have to play tonight?" She coughed a little, and Gabriel looked at her with concern. "What, are you crazy? I'm not going to leave you alone here like this!" Magda smiled. "You can go, I'll be fine. Gabriel, I-" A nurse knocked on the door, then opened it. "Hi, I'm Betty, I need to take your blood pressure real quick, please." "Okay." "I'm glad to see you're awake, you had some people worried there for a while." She smiled, and put the cuff on her arm. After she was through taking it, she slightly frowned as she put down the numbers. "What, what's wrong?" "Oh, it's just a little low, that's all. But I had a feeling it would be, after losing all that blood earlier." "Does she need a transfusion or anything?" Gabriel asked. "Oh, no, I don't think so. Just maybe four or five days in here can make people good as new. So, how are you feeling right now? A little sore?" "Well, yeah, I'm sore on my shoulder, and I have a headache. But I'm feeling a little dizzy, too." Betty frowned. "How dizzy?" I couldn't walk, I'm so dizzy... "Not much, I bet it's just from sleeping so long, that happens sometimes. I'm fine." "Okay, well, I'll leave you two alone, then. Buh-bye." She walked out the door. "Well, Mag, I'd better go, but be sure and call me at least every hour, unless you're asleep, okay?" She smiled. "Yeah, sure. Bye, love you." "I love you, too." He kissed her, then left. When Jinny woke up the next morning, she found out that she had fallen asleep where she was lying after she realized what had happened to Magda. Magda... I killed her! It was all my fault... She started to cry again, but then stopped. Jinny, pull yourself together! Go get ready, go to work, and try and take your mind off of her... Kate slowly pulled into the division. How am I going to tell everyone what happened to Magda? And I hope Theodore got to Jinny with the message... She parked the car, and walked in. When she opened the door to the division, CD critically, but jokingly looked at her. "You're late, McCafferty." She smiled at Kate, but Kate didn't smile back. "Yeah, sorry, there were some problems I had to take care of." CD frowned, it wasn't like Kate to be late, then have no real excuse. "Is anything wrong?" "Well..." She sighed. "I might as well tell you now." She gestured to her office, and they both walked in there. Angela looked over, and saw Kate looking down and shaking her head, and CD suddenly sit down. Oh, boy, this must be bad if CD is acting like that... CD walked out of the office, with tears running down her face. "Angela..." CD said, choked up. "Come with me. I have to tell you something. Kate's going to announce it, but she wanted her close friends to know first..." "What?" Angela asked, standing up. "Is something wrong with Magda or Jinny? They're not here yet." Jinny walked in, looking red-eyed and sleep deprived. "Magda... What's wrong?" "I'll tell you in the bathroom." CD grabbed Angela's arm and pulled her out the door. Hope y'all like!
