Oh No Okay, I Was Too Old To Be That Naive.........

There were times I was too old to so naive........

At the age of 23, I followed this guy into a bank that I was casually seeing, where his Social Security number would be told...... I had no intention of stealing his identity, but I went because I didn't think of how bad it would mkae me look. I tuned out his SS number, however...... (I wouldn't be able to steal what I didn't hear). When I told my then 17-year old sister what i had done, she said, "Oh my god... You followed him into a bank?" (Then she either said, "Why didn't he run?" "I would have run if I were him," or "He should have run." I forgot which one she said, but I do remember this, I said, 'He didn't seem to mind. he didn't tell me anything." She answered, 'Of course he's not going to tell you anything. I just know if I were him, and you did that to me, "I would have run." I beagn to think that wasn't the smartest idea.....

I didn't know how right she was, until a couple of months into our relationship, on the phone, "He asked, 'Why did you follow me into the bank?" I answered, "I don't know, I just wanted to talk to you some more." He answered, "Well, that was one of the most scariest things to happen to me in my life. I was freaked that you follwed me ionto a bank." I said,"Why didn't you tell me to go away?" He answered, "I was trying to be nice, but I assumed you would know better than to follow me, someone you are just casually seeing into a bank. My instincts were actually telling me to get the hell away from you, but i ignored them and figured you were harmless."

I then thought back to that day, and remembered that when I was following him into the bank, he seemed to be walking REALLY fast....(He must have been trying to get the hell away from me just as fast as he could).... I had to kind of run to keep up with him....... (That should have been a warning sign that he didn't want me to follow him......

I was a grown adult following him like a little kid! For all I knew, he could have been planning to rob that bank, and I would been right in the middle of it(and the bank wasn't even on my way)....... Or, he could have called the cops on his cellphone, and I could have been in jail...... Luckily for both of us, I just turned out to be a naive person not using her better judgement.......

At another time, at the age of 12, my teacher asked what we wanted to be when we grew up. I answered, 'I want to be a gold-digger!" (Meaning I wanted to search for gold), and the class laughed. I was confused.... The teacher said, Janice, you want to search for gold, right? i said, "Yeah... I want to look for gold treasures.... I had no idea what the class laughed at until I was about 13 or 14.... I couldn't believe what I had mistakenly implied... When I later told my then 11 year old sister what I had said, She was like, "That's lame.... At 9 or 10 i knew what a gold-digger meant...." maybe I was too naive at 12.....

I remember in third grade a few of us kids found a condom inside the boys restroom. I absolutely had no idea what it was, but was too afraid to ask. But another kid asked "do you mean condo?, what's a condom?" Everybody just laughed and teased him about it for days!

Now that I think back, why would those other third graders know what it was? Child molestation, unfit parents? Older siblings?

That reminds me of my brother, when he was about 10 or 11 his best friend Kenny moved into a condo. My brother kept getting mixed up and would say that Kenny lived in a condom.

I used to think if you ate spicy food (hot peppers, hot sauce, salsa, etc.), you'd breathe fire out of your mouth.

Ehh... that's one of my biggest pet peeves. Especially when people refuse to believe that there are some 4-year COLLEGES that happen to be a lot better and more prestigious that most universities (e.g., Boston College, Vassar, Sarah Lawrence, Pomona, Occidental, Claremont-McKenna.)

I used to think that every woman got pregnant when they were 13 and they had to take special pills so they wouldn't get preggers!! Haahaha, I seriously thought that until about 5th grade when my mom explained to me that sometimes people have sex for more then just one reason, LOL. Of course I didn't even know what sex was until about 5th grade.
