THERE WAS DOROTHY, BLANCHE AND ROSE. WHICH ONE WAS THE YOUNGEST OF THE THREE ON THE SHOW? WASNT IT BLANCHE? AND IF SO, DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW OLD SHE WAS COMPARED TO THE OTHERS?

Yes, Blanche was the youngest. According to her she was a lot younger then the others. I don't really know how much younger she actually was, but I'd say at least 5 yrs. younger.

I knew that Blanche was the youngest, and Sophia was the oldest, but does it ever say which one of Dorothy and Rose are older/younger? And I think Rose had probably the worst health too, that's why I was thinking she was older because she had the heart attack and everything.

I always thought of Dorothy as being older than Rose. I could be wrong though.

I don't think they ever talk specifically about their ages. I think that was their way of fitting in their 40-80 target audience. I always assumed they were in their mid 50's to mid 60's at the end of the show. But I was a kid at the time and a 30 year old seemed old to me. Now that i'm 34, 55-65 seems middle aged and not old.
I think the show wanted to have the 3 girls the same age. The fact Sophia was old, sort of injected youth (by comparison) into the other 3 girls, in episodes where they needed it.

Right. But it's mentioned a lot how Sophia is the old one (obviously because she was Dorothy's mom) and how Blanche was the young one, by her saying...I think she was still about the same age of Rose and Dorothy, especially Rose, because I think Rose was younger by a couple years than Dorothy, and Blanche was maybe a few younger than Rose.

In one episode they flashbacked to mother's day with Blanche's mother and said Blanche was 18 in 1949. The show started in 85, so Blanche would've been 54 at the start of the series. 1985-1949=36. 36+18=54.

Sophia mentioned in the first season she was 80 or 81. In the episode where they got robbed and Rose bought a gun. She shot the vase. Sophia says I lived 80-81 years. I survived stroke, pnemonia. One night I'll belch and stable mable will blow my head off.

In one episode Sophia mentioned Dorothy was going to the Junior Prom in 1946. Most juniors are 17. So if she was 17 in 46, then she would've 56 in 85 when the show started.

The only mystery is Rose.

She's my favorite...so it really is a big mystery. Always wondered that...I think if Blanche was 54, Dorothy was 56, I think Rose would have been like 55. She seems and looks younger than Dorothy.
