Default I see CBS treated season 9 the same way they treated season 6 of Good Times

CBS aired the show in the fall of 97 and once January of 2008 rolled around, the show was put on Hiatus until June of 1998 and then cancelled in the summer season just how Good Times was on Hiatus in Jan of 79 to Jun of 79 and then cancelled in the summer. Same SH*T different time and show-lol

I guess I don't even recall saying in jan of 98-"where the hell is family matters"

Does anyone remember looking for family matters on ABC between jan of 98 and june of 98?

I never "looked" for it on ABC because I remember it making entertainment news, so I knew that it was going over to CBS.

I mean did you look for it on CBS between January and June of 1998 when it was on a 5 month hiatus?

No, I believe they were having promos telling folks when it would be on. I don't believe they showed reruns of ABC airings on CBS

No because everyone knew that the episode where Steve goes into space, was going to be the last episode, and that it wasn't going to be renewed. Why would I look for it in the fall when everyone knew that it was ending that summer?

I remember that summer my aunt, grandma, cousin and my bestfriend and I, we all went to Hot Springs for summer vacation. And on our way back home that friday we were speeding home so that we could see the finale.

Prob at the end, because it went from Janurary, and then nothing until like the summer. Not that many episodes aired as I recall.

I do remember seeing promos for the series finale on CBS. This was just about the only show in the 90's I watched every episode, every season, every Friday night. The show completely bombed on CBS, so I really don't blame them for cancelling it. I blame ABC for taking the show a step too far - they should have gave it a proper finale at the end of season 8 and left it be. CBS just murdered it.

HELL NO! By that time, the show had totally jumped the shark, I stopped watching all together. I will admit I saw the first few episodes to see what CBS would do with it and that was it. I did tune into the ill-fated 'Friday Night Block Party' for the Gregory Hines Show though. That was the only real show in the entire lineup that was worth something.

CBS thought they could revive TGIF as ABC was ditching it and going in a new direction with their programming. The big problem that CBS had was they couldn't promote Step by Step and Family Matters due to committments with ABC. This was the same thing when UPN acquired several cancelled shows. The cancelling network often has the rights for summer reruns and promotions on their network. ABC had egg on their face when Clueless kick ass in summer 97 but it was too late as UPN already picked it up when they dropped it. It's not like the cancelling network is going to advertise the show is moving somewhere else, lol.
