I've actually watched since the premiere, but I have to admit that I haven't always liked it. In fact, when it was on prime time, I hated it! I can't really tell you why; I just never could get into it, and didn't think it was that funny. I was more of a "Full House" gal myself.
However, since it's been on "Nick at Nite" for so long, I've found myself really enjoying it. I probably wouldn't go out and buy the DVD's but it's a great show! Hilarious at times and I love Bill Cosby as a dad. Seriously, he's probably the best TV dad of all. The show is so "real" and none of the characters are "drop dead gorgeous". Felicia Rashad is gorgeous, but not in the "beauty queen" way that people are portrayed on TV today. It's funny to see Raven Simone as a preschooler since she's so popular now. I don't watch the Disney Channel much, but I've enjoyed the shows that I've seen her in. I never cared for Lisa Bonet, but I like her in this series. Anyone have any thoughts on the Cosby Show? I actually only started watching it in very late 2006, like in December that year, because it hadn't been on Swedish TV for years before then. I like it now though.
When you talked about the characters, I remembered what I recently realised about the Huxtable kids. They were all pretty average popularity-wise. It's not like in "Family Matters", when the popular Eddy and Laura are a contrast to nerds like Steve and Myra or idiots like Waldo. And it's not like "Step by step" or "8 simple rules", where two sisters are total opposites of each other, or "Two and a half men", where two brothers are total opposites of each other. Because while neither one of the Huxtable kids could be considered "nerds", and while they all have their set of friends, none of the five seem to be popular in-crowd jock/cheerleader type either. |

I watched the show back when it originally aired. I was in the 3rd grade when it premiered. I remember my friends and I would always look forward to Thursday nights because we could watch The Cosby Show and then we only had one more day of school left! As I grew up though I stopped watching it. I don't know, maybe I just grew out of it or something. I recently started watching it again on Nick at Nite, and I'm starting to get into it again. I think it's that I'm older now, and the nostalgia of the '80's are starting to kick in.

I was born in the middle of the 4th season when it became popular along with Cheers, Family Ties, and Growing Pains. I still love this show next to Cheers!!!
