Which character(s) have the most appearances outside the mainstays (Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie)?

Not sure, but I would guess characters like Grampa, Flanders, Moe, Principal Skinner, Ms. Krabapple, and Milhouse.

Those numbers don't seem right at all. I'm pretty sure Grampa and Milhouse appeared in more episodes than that.
