In 1964, Bewitched made a star out of a fictional suburban witch named Samantha Stevens. A couple of seasons in, Samantha and mortal husband Darrin Stevens had a baby named Tabitha. Much to Darren's chagrin, Tabitha took after her mother and can turn the stuffed animals in her nursery into a live zoo.

Erin Murphy played the baby witch. She was cast when she was two years old. We watched her grow to eight and then the show ended.

Murphy has many fond memories of her time on the series. "We did magic everyday on the set. I liked the days that there were animals there. I mean sometimes we had elephants and ponies! I liked all the episodes where other kids were there, since most of the time I was the only kid."

Murphy, and her twin sister Diane, were raised in Los Angeles. "My mom would be out with me in the stroller, and I have a fraternal twin sister, so we were two little blondes. Producers and agents would come up to my parents and suggest that we get into the business. After enough people did that, my parents decided to give it a try."

Murphy and her twin Diane were originally both hired to play Tabitha in order to cut down on each girl's working hours, but the twins started looking less and less alike so producers chose Murphy because of her ability with lines.

Tabitha cast spells by twitching her nose, but she needed help. "I got to use my finger, I didn't have to do it like Elizabeth did."

Murphy grew very close to her television family, especially Elizabeth Montgomery. "I knew Elizabeth Montgomery wasn't really my mom. We were really close since she had three kids who are my age. We all kind of grew up together."

Whatever happened to the little sweetheart who played Tabitha?

After Bewitched ended, she went back to school and lived a completely normal childhood. Staying out of the limelight helped Murphy avoid the child star trap. "Everyday someone says they know me from somewhere. You hear the horror stories. If a child star goes bad you hear about it. It is probably not as news-worthy that I go to PTA meetings."

Murphy now has six sons between the ages of three and 21. "We do little league and soccer and go to the beach, and they're just great kids."

Murphy turned down opportunities to pose in Playboy, which show you her priorities. "I don't want my kids and their friends to see that. Not because I'm embarrassed, but because I don't, it's not really the right choice for me. I just want to be normal. Well acting is better than normal. You get to pretend to be normal."

Several years ago I was watching a talk show that featured former child stars. It might have been the Danny Bonaduce show, but he was on it. Anyway, Erin Murphy was on as well and OMG, Danny was falling all over her! He couldn't go five minutes without telling Erin how gorgeous she was!

Well he wasn't all wrong. She is extremely pretty!

Well said, Monika! I think Erin Murphy is a very pretty lady, and the picture Andrea provided just proves that even more! (Oh, and on a side note, Monika, do you think you could keep that picture of Elizabeth Montgomery you have as your avatar right now for a little while longer than you usually do? That's one of the best pictures I've seen of her as Samantha in quite a while.)
