This story will be a tear jerker.

She Misses Him

A Division Fan Fiction

Jinny, Magda, and Kate are the only people at the station, it’s about ten at night and those three are working a double shift.
Jinny puts her head on her desk and sighs, “This is going to be a LONG night.”
Just then John walks in the door, he was worried, “Jin, can I talk to you, now?”
“Why?”
“Just talk to me in the hall.”
“Fine.” When the two of them get in the hall John just looks at Jinny, “So what do you need to tell me?”
“Jin, dad had a…” John pauses and gulps, “well dad had a stroke, they don’t know if he’s going to make it.”
“WHAT?” Jinny yells she looks at John hoping this was a sick practical joke, knowing it wasn’t she looked at him with tears forming in her eyes. “Listen I need to work. So if you could just call me if there’s any news…”
“Yeah sure Jin.” John starts to walk away.
“Wait, how’s Casey?”
“Well he’s not taking the news so well.”
Jinny just shakes her head, fighting back tears and goes back to her desk.
“Jin, what did John want?” Magda asked her. She could tell that something was wrong.
“Nothing Mag, nothing.”
“Whatever.” Magda said, she knew something was up with her best friend; she just didn’t want to push her, “You know if you need to talk I’m always here.”
“Yeah, I know Mag,” Jinny said. She really wanted to tell her what was up, “Mag what would you do if you were told one of you family members had a stroke?”
“Why?”
“Just answer.”
“I would probably freak out. Now why?”
“Mag, my dad had a stroke. That’s why John needed to talk to me.” Jinny told her, she was fighting back tears.
“Oh Jinny, I’m so sorry.” Magda looked at her. She knew that Jin wanted to cry.

Kate walked out of her office and noticed Magda was looking at Jinny with sympathy on her face. She also noticed Jin was about to cry.
“Magda can I talk to you in my office.”
“Yeah.” Magda got up and went in Kate’s office.
“Magda what’s up with Jinny, she’s about to cry, and you look as if you know what’s wrong.”
“Jin’s dad had a stroke, John just told her.”
“Oh my. I know about what that would feel like, my mom had a stroke and she has Alzheimer’s. She has to be scared and upset. Plus her dad and brothers are all she really has left right now.”
“Yeah.” Magda looked at her with a ‘what do I do to help her’ look.

Part Two

“Alright, thanks Mag.” Cap told her.
“Yeah, do you have any advice on how to help her?”
“Just listen to her, that’s all you can do. Don’t give her advice, this is one thing she’ll need to figure out for herself.”
“Okay.” Magda stood up and left Kate’s office.
“What did she want to talk to you about?” Jinny looked at her.
“Nothing.” Mag told her, not trying to touch the subject.
“Whatever.” Jinny gets up and knocks on Kate’s door. “Captain, can I talk to you?”
“Sure.” She replies to Jinny. She is glad she came in; she was really hoping that she would ask for the rest of the night off. Working wasn’t where she should be right now. “What do you want?”
“Can I have the rest of the night off? I have some personal stuff to take care of.”
“Well, I guess.”
“Thanks Captain.” Jinny gets up and starts for her door.
“Jin, Magda told me about your dad. I’m sorry to hear about it.”
“Yeah, so am I.” Jinny leaves her office, and grabs her coat.
“Jin where you going?”
“I’m leaving for the rest of the night.”
“You deserve it.” Mag said as Jinny walked out the door.

Jinny heads to the hospital, she really wanted to see her dad. When she walks in the door she sees Casey crying and John just sitting there. Jin goes over to Casey and rubs his back; she didn’t know what she could say to comfort him.
“How’s dad?” She looked at John.
“I don’t know.”
“Can he have visitors?”
“Not right now.”
Jinny sighed; she didn’t know what to do or what to think. She sat there, rubbing Casey’s back. She tried to comfort him but she knew she couldn’t. He had always looked to her. He had always gone to her for advice. Now if he wanted any she didn’t have any to give.

About two hours later, at 1 AM, Jinny was very tired and about to fall asleep. Casey was still crying, only now it was worse. There was still no news on their dad, and no one knew what to do.
“Guys I’ve got to hit the sack, I really need to work tomorrow. So would you call me if dad makes any progress or anything?”
“Sure” John told her.

Jinny went home, and tried to sleep but she couldn’t. She was too busy thinking about her father. ‘What if he doesn’t make it’ Jin thought to herself.
After about two hours of tossing and turning she finally got to sleep. At 6 AM her alarm rang. She got three hours of sleep, looked like a mess, and was so stressed out. She was worried about her dad but knew she had to work. She looked at her answering machine and there were no messages. John and Casey hadn’t called. ‘There must be no news on Dad, yet.’ She thought.

When Jinny got to the station her hair wasn’t done and she looked like a mess. Angela and CD didn’t know about Jin’s dad so they automatically thought it was a hang over.
“Jinny, what’s wrong?” Angela asked her.
“No one’s business but mine.”
“Why?” Angela said to her again.
“Because no one needs to know about my personal problems but me.” Jinny said, trying to hide that she was incredibly worried.

Sue z q, my uncle, who I was very close to, had a stroke. I'm sorry about your dad. How is he doing now?

U like?? You guys I'm warning you, this may not be an easy one to finish, because of my Uncle this is kind of going to be like his story. This is what happened to me only I went to church and my doctors appointments. I was home schooled. I am writing this the way it happened to him. This is not easy for me because it requires thinking back to the time when my uncle had his stroke. He unfortunatly died from his stroke, and I won't have that happen to Jin's dad. But her feelings are like my feelings when it happened to me.

He's doing pretty good now. He had it about six years ago now, I was ten. The doctors had really thought he was going to die, but we did a lot of praying and, thank God, he lived. His left side is completely paralyzed and he walks with a cane, but luckily, he can still work and function semi-normally.

I'm really sorry about your uncle, but I do know that writing is a very theraputic way of dealing with pain, so I hope that writing this fanfic will help you.

Part Three


Jinny sat there, she wanted to cry, but she knew she couldn’t. Not in front of Angela and CD. Magda walked over to Jinny.
“Jin, why didn’t you take the day off?”
“Because I need to work, plus I don’t want to sit in the hospital forever worrying about my dad. John and Casey are doing enough of that for the three of us.”
“Jinny, you shouldn’t be here. You should be at the hospital with John and Casey.”
“Mag, I don’t want to be there, hospitals give me the creeps.”
“You should be there Jinny, your dad needs you now.”
“Not going to happen, I’m working today. If there’s any news on him John or Casey are going to call me.”
“Whatever. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about you Jinny it’s that you’re stubborn.” Magda told her as she went back to her desk.
“Okay everyone, cases. CD, Angela, you have a rape, young girl about 20. She’s in the hospital right now. Her name is Shauna.”
“Got it Cap.” CD told her as she grabbed the folder.
“Magda, Jinny you guys have a homicide, Dana Salted. She was 23. Address is 5665 South Street. Good luck.”
“Any witnesses?” Jinny asked.
“None.” She told them. “Jinny, can I talk to you in my office for five minutes?”
“Yeah.”
“Why are you here?” She asked her, “You should be sitting in the waiting room at the hospital. You’re a wreck, you haven’t gotten much sleep.”
“Captain I need to work. John or Casey will call me if there’s anything.”
“This is your choice, but if you want the day off take it.”
“I don’t want or need it.” Jinny’s cell phone rings, “Exstead, yeah. John how is he? Yeah I’ll be right in. Thanks for calling. Bye.”
“Well?”
“He’s paralyzed on the right side, and he may have memory loss.”
“Jinny, you want the day off now?”
“If I could?”
“Yeah. I’ll see you when you’re ready to come back to work.”
“Thanks Captain.” Jinny leaves her office and goes to talk to Mag,
“Mag, I’m taking the day off.”
“Good, you need it.”
“Yeah, there’s news on my dad.”
“How is he?”
“He’s paralyzed on his right side, and he may have memory loss.” Jinny told Magda. CD and Angela over heard the conversation. They felt bad about giving Jinny a hard time earlier.
“Jinny what happened to your dad?” CD asked her.
“He had a stroke.” Jinny told them as she left for the hospital.

When Jinny got there she saw John and Casey sitting there in shock.
“Jinny, we can see him now, they want to know if he remembers us.” John told her
“Yeah, great, I’m coming let’s go.”
When they got there she looked inside the room, she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Her dad was laying there, his right side motionless.
“Dad,” John said to him. He looked over but didn’t remember whom he was, nor did he remember Jinny or Casey.
“Who are you people? And what do you want with me?”
“Dad it’s me, your son, John. Don’t you remember me? Or Jinny and Casey?”
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” He asked. He was clueless as to what was going on. He didn’t remember anything. Jinny just stared at him. John looked away, and Casey had to go outside the room. No one could understand it; he didn’t remember his own children.

John, Jinny and Casey all went back to the waiting room. The DR. was there.
“Did he remember any of you or anything?”
“No, he just said ‘who are you people? What do you want?’” John told him. Jinny was sitting there not knowing what to do. Same with Casey.

This is great, Hug-A-Tree!

I also wanted to say to you guys with siblings, be thankful and appreciate them. Because I remember when I was in the hospital when my dad had just had his stroke and my mom was in with him, and I was in the waiting room by myself. I would have given anything for a brother or sister to talk to, so be thankful for them.

On a lighter note, POST MORE SOON!
