Hollywood actress Sarah Michelle Gellar's hit show Buffy The Vampire Slayer has been blamed for 50,000 women abandoning traditional Western religion to study paganism.
According to the recent British study published in Women and Religion in the West, young women have taken an increased interest in practicing witchcraft after Gellar's hit TV show Buffy the Vampire Slayer hit the mainstream. The study's author Dr. Kristin Aune says: "Because of its focus on female empowerment, young women are attracted by Wicca, popularized by the TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In short, women are abandoning the church." The Church of England has declined to comment on the study. (This news article provided by World Entertainment News Network) |

Why ignore the TV series Charmed, whose primary focus was on witchcraft, when only two supporting characters on Buffy (namely,
Willow and Tara) ever practiced witchcraft? It's not like it was the driving force behind the show. If some do-gooders had their way, there would be no demonic villains in any shows (Supernatural, Ghost Whisperer, etc.). Without villains, who are the heroes going to fight? And without magic powers, how are the heroes supposed to win? I guess nothing changes: in the '50s, they claimed comic books had a corrupting influence. Today it's television shows. |
