Default Do you believe...in casting Cher as Catwoman?!?

The 62-year-old singer and actress is reported to be in talks to play Catwoman opposite Christian Bale in the third Batman film from British director Christopher Nolan.

The Oscar-winner will join a cast that includes Johnny Depp as The Riddler as she plays the whip-carrying burglar. The character has also been played by Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry.

A studio executive said: "Cher is Nolan's first choice to play Catwoman. He wants to her to portray her like a vamp in her twilight years.

"The new Catwoman will be the absolute opposite of Michelle Pfeiffer and Halle Berry's purring creations."

Filming of the new Batman instalment, provisionally entitled The Caped Crusader, is due to begin in Vancouver early next year.

The Dark Knight, this summer's blockbuster, has become the most successful of the Batman movies. Warner Bros expects the film to make about $530m.

It stars the late Heath Ledger, who was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after taking an accidental drugs overdose. His performance as The Joker is widely expected to garner an Oscar nomination.

Cher's recent acting performances have included Tea with Mussolini in 1999 and Stuck on You, in 2003 in which she played herself.

Say WHAT!?? Isn't she a bit too old for that part? But I CAN see her playing a cougar.

please let this be a hoax. she's just too old for the role. btw, has depp actually said yes to the part of the riddler- or is this just a rumour? if so, i'm dissapointed. no offence to depp but i didn't want him to play that character

Believe me, these are nothing but rumors right now. No offense to Cher fans, but I seriously doubt she is even in the running, if there is even a running.

All this talk about who the next villain is going to be and who is going to play the villain is fake.

I'm sure they're kicking around story ideas now for the next Batman movie, but there is no way they have any kind of script yet.

Lol

I read in another thread that Angelina Jolie was supposedly playing Catwoman. Now that I could see. I'm sorry, but Cher is wayyyyy too old for that!

Well, she does shows in Vegas (Caesar's Palace) so maybe she could find out if the musical "Cats" is playing anywhere and just borrow one of their outfits!

and neither do i go along with the idea that johnny depp has got the part of the riddler, and yet i go on you tube and people have posted comments that he has agreed to be the riddler. that is total BS. i believe it when i see it

i think she shouldn't be in the running. this is one of the wierdest casting decisions i've heard, i hope that it doesn't turn out to be true

I could see Depp as the Joker, but, Cher as Catwoman? No WAAAAYYYYYYYYYY............They might give her the role of the old spinster "Aunt Harriet" (from the TV show), if that part were ever revived
