I was asking myself this morning, what was my favorite decade for ...
movies? TV shows? music? comic books? comic strips? And I kept coming up with the same answer: the 1960's. What a great decade for .. well, everything. It was the decade that gave us: "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World," "A Hard Day's Night," "Help!," "The Nutty Professor," "McLintock!," "Viva Las Vegas," "Yellow Submarine" .. Andy Griffith Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, The Munsters, Get Smart, Star Trek, Batman, The Monkees, Bonanza, The Flintstones, Bullwinkle ... The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, Sonny & Cher ... Marvel Comics (Fantastic Four, Spider-Man), Gold Key Comics ... B.C., Family Circus, Hazel, Andy Capp, Doonesbury. O.K. There were assassinations and the Vietnam war. But on the plus side, we put a man on the moon. For me personally, I began the decade entering junior high school and ended it by graduating from college and going out into "the real world" and starting my first job (such as it was). All in all, though, it was a pretty good time in my life and in the world of entertainment (in my opinion). So this post is for all of you who lived through that time with me .. and to those who have only read about it. Peace.

I love the 60's.
Too bad VH-1 would never do a special on that. Also...I like the 60's furniture. You can never go wrong with Scandanavian. |
