Default Superman to be remade...again, Brandon Routh is definitely out and more...

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1219...googlenews_wsj

According to the WB's Jeff Robinov, in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, the plan is to do a "Superman" movie along the lines of "The Dark Knight" - something dark, depressing and saturated in blacks and purples.

"'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

Superman and Batman are two entirely different characters. Why would they want their movies to be along the same lines?

Why are they even bothering with another Superman film? We've got the Christopher Reeve classics. We've got Superman's television work (George Reeves, Dean Cain, etc.). We've got the latest film that didn't work. No need for another film right now.

I agree, but the studio is looking for another movie franchise to cash in on and Superman, if done right, could equal big bucks.

Please tell me they aren't talking about the Christopher Reeves movies. "Didn't work"? Are they nuts?! I remember standing in line with my mom at the mall for two hours waiting to see the original. And the success of that movie is because of Christopher Reeve (and because I think that was the first time a superhero was in a feature film, right?). Christopher Reeve lived his whole life as a superhero... especially toward the end..

No, no Andrea, they are referring to the horrible 2006 movie Superman Returns starring Brandon Routh as Superman.

What remake? None of the Christopher Reeve movies have ever been remade.

Superman Returns was a terrible movie. It cost 300 million to make, and it barely broke even. It was a bomb. Deal with it.

I cannot count the things that was wrong with the move. Brandon Routh was terrible. Kate Bosworth was a terrible choice for Lois Lane. A 24 year old Lois Lane with a ten year old son? Do the friggin math. Idiots made this move!

Quit while you are behind, Warner Brothers.
You gave us the same BS before Superman Returns came out. You did not reinvent the franchise. It was an overproduced fiasco.

It sucked. You ate a lot of money. Leave it alone.

It sucked, It sucked it sucked.

Oh okay. I was going to say, how can they insult Christopher Reeve like that?

Oh speaking of Christopher Reeve, I just started reading a book about him and Dana Reeve called "Somewhere In Heaven". It's really interesting so far. Definitely recommend it!

no, that wasn't the first time a superhero was in a feature film. Way back in the 40s, there were 2 serials about Superman that starred an actor named Kirk Allyn (who made a cameo in the first Christopher Reeve film, as Lois Lanes father). And in 1951, they released a 2 part episode of the George Reeves series as a movie (I think it was called "SUPERMAN AND THE MOLE MEN"). And in 1966, they made a feature film of the Adam West "BATMAN" TV series. I don't know if there ever was any more.
