Oh No I think the viewers were robbed when....

Steve and Regina finally consumated their love. It happened in the last episode of Season 5. For five years, viewers watched those two constantly "almost" get together. Steve went to see Regina the day she was marrying another man. While she was in her wedding gown, Steve told her he loved her and begged her not to get married.

We watched them get stuck in a snowstorm in a car, and they would have gone all the way if Romeo wasn't hiding out in the backseat, lol. They had plans to get together that were always ruined. For five years, we watched and waited for them to become a couple. They were like the Sam and Diane of the 90s.

Finally, it happened. How are viewers told? Cedric and Lovita, who live across the hall from Steve, answer the door, and Steve and Regina come in wearing pajamas, and a remark is made that they finally "did it". Then, Cedric and Lovita announce that they're having a baby. Everyone's happy, all blended in.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't want to see Steve and Regina in bed; however, after five years, I think it deserved a scene in Steve's apartment. We could have finally seen his bedroom. I would have liked to have seen them dressed nicely, have Steve talk romantic to her, tell her he loves her, let's finally get together, etc. Steve could have slipped one dress strap off her shoulder, and fade to black. Could have had some fun with it, show fireworks, waves crashing in the ocean, lol.

But no, we get nothing. All off camera. We're told in one sentence in Cedric's apartment, which we hardly ever saw. I would have loved a romantic scene. Instead, it was just a lame scene thrown in, all willy nilly.

Great post Janice. I agree with you 100%. I was never more than a casual watcher of the show but if I had put those years in, I'd be upset that they put that storyline on the back burner like they did. I've been watching it more since you asked me to and liking it more. I don't post much because my computer is on its way out. My sisters loved that show BTW. It's too bad their aren't more fans of it here at SO. I didn't see a whole lot of episodes but I liked what I saw and what I've been seeing. I liked Steve Harvey in Me and the Boys so it was nice he finally had a hit show.

I'm not too familiar with the show, but that sounds like anti-climatic, the way they got them together. So for five years, it was a series of failed starts, then they do that? Where was Harvey's input on that. He's a writer, as he was a standup comic. I can see why you'd be irked. Good idea to start a new thread, Janice. Sometimes a thread turns into such a disaster, that it's best to can it totally.

As an avid viewer of The Steve Harvey Show, I must diagree with BOTH of the previous posters. They are missing a MAJOR point. The reason that Steve and Regina Finally consumated thier impending relationship in the quick way that they did is because THE SERIES WAS ENDING. There was not going to be a episode or a season after that one episode. It was "The Wrap Up". The pace of the final Season Didn't Allow for A Long drawn Out Consumation of their love. The Series Had Reached It's Peak and When Piggy and Steve Finally Got Together....The Premise of The Entire Series Had Come FULL CIRCLE. The relationship they never had in high school had by fate been delayed until their ADULTHOOD.

Having seen every episode, I'm familiar with the premise. My problem is that the episode when they finally got together was poorly done. After all they and the viewers had been through, it's mentioned in Cedric and Lovita's apartment, mixed in with the news of the pregnancy. It was a poor wrap up, in my opinion. I felt shortchanged. My initial post explains it all.

No, that's not how it works at this site. Threads stay open unless arguments ensue. Otherwise, members are allowed to post their thoughts, even years from now.

You just bumped up a thread that's close to three month's old.

I see threads bumped up that are years old all the time on this site, so you have no argument there. I don't know what your issue is anyway. How about getting back on topic, unless you're done.

I think it's so pitiful for people to bump old threads to say nothing.
