It has always amazed me how no one on LHOP seems to be bothered when their feet get wet.
People are forever traipsing through creeks, rivers, ponds and even the ocean, and they never take their shoes off! They just stroll through the water as if it wasn't there: not cold, not wet, nothing. They don't even flinch! I hate to get my shoes wet especially when I will be stuck wearing them for a while after, but these people will walk through a river and then attend a four-hour church service. I did notice, however, that they seem to dry off really quickly. They swim in their longjohns and then get dressed right after. Hell, those things would take about 3 days to dry hanging on a clothesline in the blazing sun! (and check out how fast their hair dries!). Maybe water-on-the-prairie is drier than ours. I just cringe when I think of the chafing, the smell and the squishing toes those boots and high-top button-hook leather shoes must have produced.

I guess I never thought much about that.
Good point, Stacy.

ROFL, Stacy! My house is carpeted (obviously) and I hardly ever walk around barefoot! I much prefer socks!

Can you imagine all the bad cases of toe fungus Walnut Grove had? Dr. Baker must've had shelves full of foot powder and other foot ointments. Gross!!
