I got cheated by Sutherlands! - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

There's a building and lumber supply chain-store called Sutherland's where we live (kind of like Home-Depot). They have a program called "Friends of the Family" where they give you discounts, bonus bucks, etc. for repeat business.

Anyway, I got this certificate in the mail for $5.00, along with a letter, that read (verbatim):

As promised...it pays to be Friends of the Family. From January 1st to June 30th you have earned $7.77.
But we are going to give you $5.00! That's how we treat our friends. Enjoy!

As I was reading that I got a big laugh! It's not the money; it's the wording of it. I know it has to be a misprint or a mistake, but still, it was funny!
I wonder if Jay Leno would put that on his Headliner's segment?

They are supposed to cut you a store credit certificate that equals the amount of bonus bucks (or whatever they're called) that you've earned.

I spent enough there to earn $7.77. (I know, "big whoop"!--I don't shop there a whole lot)

Instead, I got a certificate for $5.00. I usually just misplace the things and never use the credit certificates anyway....

But THIS one made me go, "HUH???" It's the last couple of sentences that made me laugh ("thats how we treat our friends. Enjoy!")!
