* Courteney Cox's Monica Geller on "Friends" was nearly played by Nancy McKeon, who had finished "The Facts of Life" years earlier. |

Wow I never knew that! Now I wish that she would've been on there; maybe I would've actually watched the show

I have a friends magazine that came out just before they aired the last episode and in that magazine they have a little spot that talks about this. It says that Courtney Cox was in the bathroom just before she went to do her audtions and in the stall next to her was Nancy and once Courtney know Nancy was there she was sure she wouldn't get the part and Nancy would.
You know as much as I would of loved to seen Nancy on that show I just couldn't see her playing Monica when she fell in love with Chandler. For some reason I can't picture Nancy playing Matthew Perry's love intrest |

I have heard this before too. I can't seem to remember where though...I don't think Friends has had an E! True Hollywood Story, has it? But I am with you guys, I can't see anyone else playing Monica, although I'm sure Nancy would've done a great job!!! She'll always be Jo to me!!

I've also read elsewhere that Janeane Garafalo was also considered for the role of Monica, but she turned it down. Tea Leoni was also in the running when the character of Rachel was being cast.

Ironically, didn't she eventually star in a "Friends" type sitcom after FOL?

yep, called "Can't Hurry Love".....was actually a decent ratings winner for CBS on Monday nights, but CBS still didn't renew it. I think it was ranked something like #22 for the season (or close to it). |

From what I recall, it was pleasant enough. I was more of a fan of Nancy and Jean Smart's "Style and Substance".

Another babe who I read was considered for the part of of Monica was Leah Remini. How do other fans think that she would have done in this role? I have also read the Eric McCormick was considered for the role of Ross. However one thing that I think that the audience would have had a hard time swallowing is that someone played by a actor as WASPs as Eric would have a last name like Geller! In any event, one thing that I am very happy about is the fact that Lisa Kudrow got the part of Pheobe! This is mainly because I have a soft spot for lefties!
