Everyone's Looking (new fan fic)

Hi, this is my first fan fic so I hope you guys like it.

*At the Division*
Cap walks out of her office with a folder in her hands.
Captain: Okay, everyone listen up, we have an unusual case here. *everyone stops what they were doing and looks up at the Captain* We've gotten word that Ralph Wilson, the very wanted drug dealer, is going to be at the Hilton's restaurant tomorrow night. He is going to be there waiting for a girl that was set up for him by a friend of his. We recently caught this "friend" of his dealing drugs and we've made a deal with him that if he cancels the girl he had set up to go we will lessen the charges.
C.D.: What's the plan, Captain?
Captain: We've come up with an idea to catch him. We will have one of our female inspectors go undercover as this girl, have dinner with him, then take him back to her apartment, where some officers will be waiting for them, and they can arrest him. We don't want to arrest him at the restaurant as he will have a gun with him, and we don't want anyone to get hurt. The female officer who goes undercover will have to get his gun away from him once in the apartment, then it will be safe for our officers to come out from where they will be hiding and arrest him. We need a female officer who is good with men, will know how to get him to her apartment smoothly, etc.
*all eyes went to Jinny* LOL
Jinny: *seeing everyone staring at her* WHAT?!
Captain: Exstead, was that a volunteer?
Jinny: Well, as long as I've already been unanimously voted...
Captain: Good, excellent choice, if you ask me. *Captain smurks at Jinny*
Jinny *just glares at her*
Magda: * smiling at Jinny* So..Jinny..you think you can get him up in your apartment?
Jinny: *rolls her eyes and laughs* Just watch me!

*at the end of that day, everyone is leaving, people are coming in for the night shift*
Captain: *poking her head out of her office* Exstead, would you come in my office?
Jinny: Sure, Cap. *coming into Captain's office and sitting down in chair* What is it?
Captain: Here's what's going to happen tomorrow. I'll give you a picture of Wilson so you'll know what he looks like. The restaurant should be cooperative as we've informed them of everything. You'll charm him, make some remark to let him you know you want him to go to your apartment *looks at Jinny* I'm sure you'll know what to say. *Jinny folds her arms and glares at her* Once you get him in your apartment, first thing you need to do is get his gun away from him. Tell him to take off his clothes for you or something, then once the gun is a safe distance away from him, preferably in your hands, yell "Ready" and the cops that we'll have hidden in your closet and bathroom will jump out and handcuff him. Any questions?
Jinny: Nope.
Captain: *stares at Jinny for a while* Do you have something to wear?
Jinny: Do you want me to wear a dress?
Captain: Preferably.
Jinny: I have a black, spaghetti strap, few inches above the knee dress. Will that work?
Captain: I should think so. *stares at her some more* Gonna do something with your hair?
Jinny: *kinda sick of the Captain questioning how she'll look* What did you have in mind?
Captain: Could you wear it up?
Jinny: Up?
Captain: Yes, up. *goes over behind Jinny and starts messing with hair, trying to find some way to make it all stay up*
Jeff: (an officer at the division) *sticks his head in her office* Captain do you find that- *seeing Captain messing with Jinny's hair* Am I interrupting something?
Captain: *has that deer in the headlights look, lol* Uh..no..Here's that file. *goes over to her desk and fishes it out then hands it to him*
Jeff: *looks at Jinny and laughs on his way out, Jinny just shakes her head*
Jinny: Will that be all?
Captain: Uh...yes... that's all. * Captain puts her hand to her head in embarrassment, Jinny starts to leave her office* Oh, one more thing. Exstead, don't get carried away tomorrow.
Jinny: *Looks at her with a 'what's that suppossed to mean' look then turns and walks out*
*Magda is sitting at her desk, waiting for Jinny cause Jinny's gonna give her a ride home*
Jinny: Ready?
Magda: Yup.
*in the car, on the way to Magda's house*
Magda: *still wanting to tease Jinny, playfully* So..have you planned out what you're going to do tomorrow?
Jinny: *angrily, sarcastically* Of course, Magda! I'll just do to him what I've done to all the other billion guys I've slept with! It that all you people have to think about?!
Magda: Sorry, Jin, I didn't know you were taking it so seriously.
Jinny: *almost yelling* Can we just drop it?!
Magda; Sure, Jin, whatever you want. *looks out her window kind of wondering what made Jinny so touchy all of a sudden, she certainly didn't want to hurt her best friend* Look, Jinny-
Jinny: *cuts her off* We're here, bye Magda. *not looking at her, just looking out her window*
Magda: *really confused* Yeah, bye, Jin. *gets out and walks up to her house*
Jinny: *under her breath* and good riddance. *thinking to herself* Jin, you've done it again. You've made your best friend feel like your worst enemy. When will you ever learn?
*Jinny gets to her apartment and walks in the door, Theodore or "Teddy Dearest", as you guys call him, lol, is sitting on her couch looking at the T.V. Guide*
Teddy: Hi, Jinny! *he's had a great day at work so he's really happy and upbeat* How's it going?
Jinny: *looking at the floor, kinda mumbling to herself* Oh..fine.
Teddy: There's nothing on T.V. so do you want to go out to eat?
Jinny: *she's still looking at the floor* I'd rather not, I'm kinda tired.
Teddy: You do look kinda tired. Come here and I'll rub your shoulders.
Jinny: *really touched* Thanks, Teddy. *she goes over and sits on the couch and sits facing away from him, he sits behind her and starts to massage her shoulders* Teddy, can I ask you something?
Teddy: Sure.
Jinny: Am I a mean person?
Teddy: Of course not, who gave you that idea?
Jinny: Come on, be honest Teddy, surely you know I'm tougher than that.
Teddy: Well, sometimes you can be a little...uh...moody, but-
Jinny: Moody? Moody! *yelling* I am not- *stops cause she realizes she's proving his point, she laughs a little and hangs her head, she gets more serious* When I was younger I wouldn't have admitted it, but I wanted to be liked. I figured being sarcastic and funny and flirty would make me likable, and it did, but that only works with teenagers. Now, I don't know what to do. *pauses* Have you noticed how everyone's always looking for other people's flaws? People will do anything to find that little crack in your personality. They're just looking and criticizing and making fun of your problems so theirs don't seem so bad. Well, I guess I'm just rambling. *pauses and yawns* I guess I'm just tired.
Teddy: *By now he's stopped massaging and was listening intently, he rested his head on her left shoulder and started rubbing her back* Feel better now?
Jinny: Yeah, I guess so.
Teddy: You know, Jin, I love you exactly the way you are, *kisses her on the cheek* and your friends like you because of who you are. You don't need to change if that's what you're saying.
Jinny: I don't know what I'm saying anymore.
Teddy: I made some hot dogs for us, it was all you had in your refrigerator. Do you want one?
Jinny: *smiles* Sure, you spoil me, Mr. A.D.A.
Teddy: *gets up and gets them, they look like a work of art, all the mustard, ketchup, and relish is artistically placed on the hot dogs, in perfect patterns*
Jinny: *looks at the perfect hot dogs* They look to pretty eat!
Teddy: *smiles at her, happy that they pleased her* Well, I thought they'd be rather fitting, beautiful hot dogs for a beautiful woman.
Jinny: *smiles at him, kisses him on the cheek* Thank you.

*later that night, their plates are on her
coffee table, she has her head resting on his arm, he has his feet up on her coffee table*
Teddy: Anything interesting happen today at work?
Jinny: Well, actually, yeah...(she explains the whole thing she has to do tomorrow)
Teddy: *gets a little worried* Are you gonna be okay? I mean with him coming up to your apartment and all?
Jinny: I'll be fine. Like I said, several cops are going to be in here, you don't have to worry.
Teddy: Well, I just don't want you to get hurt. I love you too much. *puts his hand behind her head and draws it to him, he kisses her forehead gently*
Jinny: I'll be fine.
Teddy: *after a while* What are you going to wear?
Jinny: Geez, you and the Captain. I'll wear that black dress I wore to your birthday party. And- *puts her hand up so he doesn't have to ask* I'll wear my hair up.
Teddy: Ohhh, up, huh?
Jinny: Yup.
Teddy: You'll look real pretty. *smiles at her*
Jinny: I hope that dress still fits, I feel like I've gained a little weight.
Teddy: You look just as skinny as you always do, but for my sake, would you go put that dress on?
Jinny: *looks sexily at him* Sure. *she gets up and goes in her room leaving Teddy sitting on the couch, she comes in a while later with her hair up and in the dress, she even put on some black hose, black shoes, and little lipstick* Well, what do you think? *she spins around a few times*
Teddy: *stunned at how beautiful she looks* Gorgeous!
Jinny: Why, thank you, Assistant District Attorney! *She stands there for a moment looking at her dress, then looks at her watch* Oh, it's getting late, I've got to get some sleep.
(Sorry, folks, but I'm with Lisa Whelchel on the whole no sex before marriage thing so Teddy's gotta go home now)
Teddy: Well, I guess I'll be going then. *goes and gets his brief case that he set down by her door*
Jinny: Thanks for everything, Teddy, the hot dogs and the massage...
Teddy: Don't thank me, it's a pleasure doing those things for someone you love.
Jinny: *just smiles at him, then kisses him* Bye.
Teddy: Bye, see you tomorrow.
Jinny: *after closing the door she just stands there leaning into the door for a moment thing how lucky she is to have a guy who loves her so much, and makes her hot dogs, and listens....she goes to her room, changes into some P.J.s and snuggles in her bed thinking about tomorrow*

Wow, BlairW_1, thanks for that VERY warm welcome and for the compliments! I've read and enjoyed your fanfictions, so coming from you, I take that as quite an honor! No, I don't get Lisa Whelchel's weekly e-mail, but being a Christian myself, I do agree with what she believes, too! Uh, oh, I'm getting off topic. (Where have I heard that B4? lol)
Well, here's some more, and thanks for reading!

*next morning at the Division, Jinny walks in and goes and sits down at her desk, Magda is sitting at her desk but she doesn't say anything because she doesn't want to make Jinny mad*
Jinny: *looks over at Magda then wheels over to her desk* Look...uh...I'm sorry about yesterday. I didn't mean to snap at you like that.
Magda: Oh, it's okay. I'm sorry that we were kidding about how you- *she stops herself not knowing how to put it*
Jinny: *puts her hand up* It's okay, I understand. *the two women smile at each other, happy that their little conflict had been resolved*
Captain: *pokes her head out of her office* Exstead?
Jinny: *turns and looks over at the Captain* Yeah?
Captain: Oh, you're here. *surprised Jinny's on time* Could you come in here, please?
Jinny: Sure. *to Magda* I wonder what the old battle-ax wants now.
Magda: *turns back around to her desk and laughs*
*Jinny goes into Cap's office and sits down in a chair, as before*
Captain: Are you ready?
Jinny: *acts like she doesn't know what she's talking about* Ready for what? Am I doing something today?
Captain: *starts to remind her of the case, then realizes she's just joking* Your name will be Elizabeth McShafer and-
Jinny: *cuts her off* Wait a minute, Cap. Do I look like an Elizabeth? *Cap just stares at her blankly* I mean Elizabeth is a name for sweet, innocent, blonde girls, not a tough, experienced, brunette like myself.
Captain: *looks totally blank, wasn't expecting this at all* Elizabeth's not experienced enough for you, huh? *Jinny shakes her head* How's Trixie do it for you?
Jinny: Now that's a little too far into the experienced side.
Captain: *kinda angry that Jinny's taking up her time finding a name, putting her hand on her hip* Well, what name would you prefer?
Jinny: *thinks for a moment* Uh...how about...Jackie? Yeah, I always wanted to be a Jackie.
Captain: Well, hmmm, *sarcastically* Jinny to Jackie, what a stretch, whatever, you'll be Jackie McShafer, and-
Jinny: *cuts her off* Now I don't think McShafer-
Captain: *cuts her off, says with authority and finality* You'll be Jackie McShafer. *Jinny laughs to herself, she could take a joke only so far with the Captain* Now, C.D., Angela, Magda, and Jeff will be in your apartment. C.D., Angela, and Magda will be in your bathroom, and Jeff will be in your closet, so be sure not to go into either one so Wilson doesn't see them too soon. We would like you to bring him to the apartment sometime between 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. I have the-
Jinny: Wait a minute, between ten and eleven, isn't that a little soon? When does dinner start?
Captain: He's planned to meet this girl at 8:00 p.m. From what I've heard from his past girlfriends, he likes to move fast.
Jinny: Ooooooohhhhhhh.
Captain: And besides, I have complete faith in you, Exstead, where this is concerned.
Jinny: *sarcastically* Oh, thanks.
Captain: Here's his picture. *gives Jinny a head shot of Wilson* Have any questions, all clear about tonight?
Jinny: Yup, all clear. *looking at the picture* Ewwwwwww. Can I go now?
Captain: Uh, uh. *Jinny gets up to leave, then turns back around*
Jinny: Uh, what am I supposed to do till then, any cases I'm supposed to be working on?
Captain: Umm, not that I can think of right now. Ask Magda, and if she's got everything covered then you can take the rest of the day off, until 8:00, of course.
Jinny: Okay, thanks, Cap. *Jinny walks out of Cap's office, asks Magda if she needs any help with anything, she says she's got everything under control so Jinny leaves* Bye, guys! See you tonight!
Everyone: Bye, Jin!

Please, don't take any offense to anyone with those names, actually, my middle name's Elizabeth, and I had this great part once in a play as Trixie St. James, I was stripper from Brooklyn! You guys should have seen my costume, it was great! But anyway, more later, hope you're enjoying it!

Thank you guys for reading! Here's some more!

*Jinny gets in her car and is just driving aimlessly, not sure of where to go or what to do. She passes the Anchorside a couple of times, but keeps her promise to herself to quit, or at least cut down, she thinks about going to see Teddy, but she remembers he has a case that day in court, and she wouldn't want to distract him. Her brothers are probably working, her dad's probably sleeping, she thinks to herself 'Whose left?' An image of her mother comes to her mind. She pulls over and thinks about her mother. She was so beautiful, big, green, loving eyes, a warm, gentle, caring face, long, thick, black hair, she was very petite, sometimes she almost seemed too fragile for life and its problems. Jinny had vowed never to be like that, she'd rather be really tough and alive than really gentle and suicudal. Jinny put her hand to her eyes and rubbed them to prevent herself from crying. Her mouth tightened, she then put her hands back to the wheel and decided to do something she hadn't done, which she should have done years ago. She drove to the cemetery to visit her mother's grave.*

*She arrived at the stone, and just looked at it for a long time, all the good memories of her mother came back, the way that she would stay up till three in the morning just to see an old Cary Grant movie, as he was her favorite actor. The way she smelled, like fresh roses, her little pearl earrings, which she always wore. The way she laughed, her smile, with that one bottom tooth that leaned into her tongue just a little bit. The way that she would always try to make Jinny act like a lady, trying to put her in a dress, curl her hair, put some make-up on her. Jinny had acted like she hated it, of course, but she really loved the attention. The way her father and mother used to tease each other, playfully calling the other names, all in good fun, of course. It had always amazed her how her mother, who was so tiny, so sweet, so peaceful, had tamed a wild man like her father. Her family was so different then. Her father was so much livelier, happy, and her parents were so in love. Casey was and still is very sweet, but there's something about him now that is sort of a sad sweetness, a sweetness that comes out of suffering and enduring something painful. John had always been wild, but then his wildness had been channeled into having fun, now it stemmed from his anger. Her mom was so fun, loving, and so sweet, everyone loved Carrie Exstead. Why did she commit suicide? What had happened? What went wrong? Sure, dad got drunk once in a while, John did get a little out of control sometimes, Jinny wasn't her idea of the perfect "girl", and Casey didn't get the best of grades, but why did she see no way out of whatever problem she had? She was so fragile, so delicate, Jinny thought to herself. Everything just must have been too much for her. By now, all Jinny could see was a blur of the gray stone and the green grass, as she had teared up. She silently wiped the tears from her face, and said, "I love you, Mom."*
