A/N: I orginally posted the first to chapters of this fic about a month and a half ago. It was entitled "Missed Opportunities." I'm sorry I never finished, I got super busy with term papers and all. I have finished it COMPLETELY now, however, and if anyone still cares to read it I will post it all. I'm going to post it in chapters because there is alot, but since I have it all written the chapters will be up frequently. I hope you enjoy it, and PLEASE review!
“Missed Opportunities Made” by: ks Jinny and Casey sat on a park bench. Casey had his head in his hands with a distraught look on his face, and Jinny had a worrisome look on her face as well as she stared at him. She leaned over and put her hand on his knee. “I know you’re probably getting some bad reps about your eh…situation…but you are a darn good cop. Don’t let what those guys at the station say effect you. They’re just talking about gays in general, not you. They don’t know about you. Don’t let dad bother you either, he’ll come around in his time.” Jinny patted her brother on the leg and watched for any sign of conformation that he understood what she was saying. She breathed a small sigh of relief when he looked up at her and forced a smile. She smiled back. “It’s who you are. You’ll be accepted for it, it just takes longer with some than with others. Trust me, I’ve been in situations similar to this before, just give it time.” She looked him in the eyes. “In the meantime you have my apartment, cell, pager, and work number. There is no reason that you can’t get up with me to talk, cause I’m always there to listen.” Casey nodded, “Yeah, Jin. Thanks, I’ll remember that.” “You better,” she said playfully. They sat in silence for a moment and a call came over Casey’s radio and he stood to leave. “Thanks.” Jinny rose to her feet as well and gave him a hug. “Anytime.” She watched as he walked out of sight… Once Casey was out of sight Jinny sat back down on the bench and put her face in her hands. “I don’t know how much more of this I can take,” she muttered under her breath. [Commercial] PLEASE REVIEW! I'll post more A.S.A.P |

Here's some more....Please let me know what you thank!
"Missed Opportunities Made" part2 STARRING: Bonnie Bedelia-Kate McCafferty Nancy McKeon-Jinny Exstead Lisa Vidal-Magda Ramirez Tracey Needham-C.D. DeLorenzo Lela Rochon Fuqua-Angela Reid Guest Starring: Theodore Blumenthal: Jay Harrington The Captain walked out of her office and took a look at the clock on the wall. She then looked around the room. “Eight o’clock and it seems all’s here…except Ms. Exstead of course.” She didn’t even bother guessing where Jinny was, nor did she asked Magda if she had heard from her. Instead she just begin passing out files… “Jackson and Young, two bank robberies in as many hours. We’re thinking they were done by the same group--get on it.” She tossed the files to the two detectives and pulled out another one. “Kilven and Sylanne, murder downtown outside a Mervin’s Bakery. Suspect in custody, but we need some hard evidence against him or he’s free by noon.” The two detectives nodded, took the file, and left. The Captain looked down at another file and then up and Angela and C.D. and smiled. “Delorenzo and Reid, how are your babysitting skills?” C.D. dropped the papers she was holding on the desk and placed her hands on her hips, staring at the captain in disbelief. “You’ve gotta be kidding me.” “Nope,” the captain shook her head. “I think it will be fun,” Angela said with a cheerful attitude. “You would,” C.D. muttered as she took the file from the Captain and walked out of the Division. “Have fun,” Magda said as Angela followed C.D. out the door. The Captain turned to Magda with the last file. “Any idea where your partner is?” “Not a clue, Cap,” she responded shaking her head. The Captain sighed and crossed her arms. “If this continues then I will have to put Jinny on probation. There is no known need for this continued tardiness of hers…” Before she could finish her sentence Jinny walked in the door. Once seeing the Captain staring at her she stopped dead in her tracks. “This better be good, Exstead,” the Captain said. Jinny sighed, “At six this morning I got a call from Casey, my brother, saying he needed to talk. I’ve been with him ever since.” “Is everything ok with him?” the Captain said, still trying to keep her tough demeanor. Jinny looked at the floor and then at the Captain. “We’re working on it.” Kate nodded and handed the remaining file to Magda. “Try not to let it happen again.” With that she turned and entered her office. Jinny breathed a sigh of relief. “Everything ok?” Magda asked. “Yeah, for now I think so.” Magda nodded, and knowing not to push Jinny any further she dropped the subject. “Ready to go.” “Let’s do it.” They both left the Division… A girl of about 5 feet 7 inches in height stood in front of C.D. and Angela with her arms folded across her and her eyes looking each of them up and down. C.D. and Angela stood sizing up the girl as well… “Inspectord Delorenzo” “and Reid” The girl slightly nodded her head. “Jeffcoat, no fancy title.” C.D. turned to Angela and smirked, “Looks as if we have a comedian here.” “Yeah, but there’s nothing about watching somebody be beaten is there?” Angela said bluntly. “I would certainly think not,” C.D. answered. They both turned to the young teenager and motioned to the nearest conference room. “Shall we?” C.D. asked. “Like I have a choice,” the girl mumbled. … … … … … … … … … … … … … Jinny and Magda sat in Jinny’s car outside “Jim Bob’s Drugstore.” They observing the place, while trying to determine how they should handle the case. “So somebody’s really been robbing this place nightly, and the local TV station hasn’t even heard about it yet?” Jinny asked. “At least we know this isn’t a ‘fame crime’.” “Yeah, but whatever is happening just isn’t making sense. I mean don’t you think its odd their security camera conveniently doesn’t work at the times of these robberies?” Magda said. “Yeah, but there’s a different employee at work during every robbery…Conspiracy maybe?” “It’s something.” They sat in silence for a minute. A smile slowly crept across Jinny’s face. She cranked the engine and drove around the block, so their car wouldn’t begin to look suspicious. “I have an idea,” she stated bluntly to Magda. “You look like someone in need of a new job…” Magda nodded with a smile, catching on to what Jinny was getting at… … … … … … … … … … … … … “Sweetheart, are you sure we can’t talk this over?” Kate begged to her daughter who was on the other end of the phone. “I mean two months is a long time.” There was a pause. “I know your aunt can afford it, but still, I will miss seeing you.” Yet, another pause. “I know we don’t see each other much as it is…” Yet, another pause. “New York isn’t just down the road, dear.” Kate bit her tongue, as it looked like she had aged five years within the past fifty minutes. “I guess there’s nothing I can do about it then…I’ll see you when you get back. I love you.” With that Kate hung up the phone, not giving Amanda another chance to say anything. Kate walked around her desk and then out of her office. She looked up at the clock, and seeing it was noon, left the Division… … … … … … … … … … … … … … [Commercials] I'll post more A.S.A.P. |

Here's some more:
"Missed Opportunities Made" part 3 The manager of “Jim Bob’s Drugstore” eyed Magda cautiously. He was a man of about fifty, with greying hairs and a moustache. He rubbed at the edge of his moustache as he looked over Magda’s application once more. “Well, Ms. Loreana Elpirez, I see no reason as to not hire you. Is the morning shift good for you? It’s from 6 to 10.” “Why so short?” “It’s just a trial thing, but you will get paid regular amount.” “Four hours, and I still get the same amount of pay as if it were seven hours?” “Yes, ma’am. I’m not prejudice, and if this works, then it will all even out.” Magda nodded her head and smiled. “Sounds good to me, sir.” The man nodded and slowly stood. “The assistant manager will be in shortly, and it will be his duty to show you the ropes and such, because I have a business meeting in a short while.” The man looked at his watch. “If you come back at two I’m sure he will be glad to show you around.” Magda stood and nodded her head in agreement. She then shook the man’s hand and thanked him. “Have a nice day.” She left. … … … … … … … … … … C.D. walked around the table, never taking her eye off the girl. She wasn’t sure what to do. She hadn’t been instructed to question the girl, but she felt odd just sitting there in silence. Angela sat across from the girl, wondering what it would be like to witness such a brutal attack. She too had no clue what to do, for she had never been put in this situation before. She was secretly looking to C.D. for leadership and guidance on this one… Cynthia Jeffcoat folded her arms and stared up at the ceiling. “You two are real fun to be around. I thought I’d get stuck with a bunch of bozos who wouldn’t shut up, but instead I got stuck with a bunch of bozos who won’t talk.” C.D. stopped her pacing and bent so she was eye level with the teenager. “Cynthia, if you want to talk then feel free to do so. It’s obvious this is something you’ve never been through before so we’re trying to not push your buttons too hard. If you want to get into interrogations then please let us know and we will begin questioning you until you turn blue from lack of oxygen. Please, however, do not get on our case for trying to give you a break.” The girl starred at C.D. and then looked at the floor, not saying a word. A small smile crept across Angela’s face at seeing how C.D. had just handled the situation. She then watched as C.D. motioned for her to step out in the hall. C.D. closed the door behind her and turned to Angela. “This kid is gonna be torn to shreds on the witness stand, and she isn’t even talking to us. I say we take her one and one, see if she’ll give either one of us an inch.” Angela nodded in agreement. “We can do it over lunch. I’ll go order us something.” C.D. nodded and watched as Angela walked off. She then positioned herself against the wall, deciding to give the girl some time to herself. … … … … … … … … … Jinny and Magda sat in Jinny’s car outside a Wal-Mart. They were each eating their lunch that they had just bought at a fast-food joint. “So he offered you normal pay, for just four hours?” Jinny questioned, making sure she had heard Magda right. “Weird, I know. The guy’s place has gotten ripped off six times in the past two weeks, and he has the money to pay his employees twice what the average store clerk makes, for shorter shifts. …It just doesn’t add up.” “And you’re supposed to go meet with assistant manager and start tomorrow? He didn’t even run your application to any of your references.” “Good thing, too. I think he would’ve gotten suspicious.” “Yeah, well he’s gotten me suspicious just hiring you on the spot like that.” “I know, Jin. Soon we’ll find out what’s going on though.” “Yeah, I guess… Something is feeling odd though.” They sat in silence for a few minutes… “So, are we gonna tell the Captain about this?” Jinny asked. “It’s policy to inform her of all our operations.” “Yeah, but you and I both know this is something she’ll shut down immediately.” “But if she does find out about it second hand…” “Yeah, I guess you’re right. She’s on my case as it is.” Magda laughed and took a sip of her drink… “Everything ok with Casey?” “Yeah, he’s just having a hard time living a ‘secret life’.” “I thought your family knew.” “His fellow cops don’t though.” Magda nodded knowingly and then smiled at Jinny for encouragement. “It’ll be ok though, Jin. You’ll see.” “Hope so.” Jinny put her food aside and cranked her car. “Better get you to work so you can meet your new boss.” “What about Cap?” “I’ll go tell her about it as soon as I drop you off.” Magda nodded as they pulled out of the parking lot and began their drive to “Jim Bob’s Drugstore”… … … … … … … … … … … Kate McCafferty took out her cell-phone and put in a call to the Division. “Dianna, hey, it’s McCafferty here. Please direct all my calls to my cell, and if anyone needs me please inform them I’m at Anchorside.” She pushed the END button on her cell phone and motioned for another drink… [Commercial] PLEASE REVIEW! Here's some more...please let me know what you think!
"Missed Opportunities Made" part 4 C.D. Delorenzo pushed herself up off the wall once she saw Theoroe Blumenthal approaching her. “Hey, Theodore,” she said with a small smile. “Good to see you again.” Theodore nodded his head in acknowledgment and transferred his brief case to his left hand. C.D. smiled at him. It was obvious he was on the nervous side. “First time questioning and eye witness?” He shifted his weight back and forth and forced a smile. “Yeah, the first time Jinny, I mean Inspector Exstead, had everything laid out for me. Since then I’ve been working under my boss very closely on every case.” He sighed. “Unfortunately he’s out of town this week and he left word he thought I was ready to handle things on my own. …So here I am.” “Don’t worry, you’ll do fine.” “Hope so.” There was a moment of silence between the two. “Has she said anything to you?” Theodore asked C.D. “No, and we really haven’t pushed her. She’s only fifteen, and it’s pretty obvious her emotions are fragile. At the moment she’s wearing a tough act.” They both turned at the sound of someone approaching. It was Angela. “Hey Theodore,” she said with a smile as she set the food that she had just gotten down in a nearby chair. “Inspector Reid,” he acknowledged, doing his best not to sound nervous. “So, how you gonna handle this?” C.D. asked. “I guess while I go talk to her mother, she can eat, and perhaps you two can go over her statement with her?” C.D. and Angela nodded in agreement and watched as Theodore walked down the hall. Once he was out of sight Angela turned to C.D. “Boy is he nervous,” she said. “Yeah, let’s see if we can get Cynthia talking comfortably to us first,” C.D. said. … … … … … … … … … Jinny thanked Dianna and pushed the END button her cell phone. She then turned her vehicle around so she was heading in the direction of Anchorside. Once there she parked her car and went in. “Jinny, what can I get for you today?” the bartender asked. “Nothing right now, Jack. I’m here on business.” Jack looked surprise, but didn’t say anything. Instead he continued serving others… Jinny surveyed the room looking for the Captain. She finally spotted her over in a corner booth, sitting by herself, starring out the window. She made her way to the booth and slid in across from the Captain. As Jinny slid in, the Captain turned to her and quickly snapped back into reality. “Hey Jinny,” she said as she quickly pushed her drink aside and began to “fix” herself up.” Jinny eyed the empty glasses sitting in front of the Captain, and couldn’t resist teasing her. “Drinkin’ on the job, Cap?” she questioned. “Something you know all I about I assume,” Captain said with a glare. Jinny held up her hands in surrender and didn’t push the Captain any further, knowing something was obviously bothering her. The Captain got agitated, “What is it you’re here for Jinny?” Jinny became serious and began explaining the situation to Captain. “Well, you know that case you gave Magda and I today…we have a plan as to how to solve it. We just need your condolences first.” The captain shifted in her seat and tried to make herself comfortable. Jinny continued hesitantly. “We think that this is going down with the employees, and perhaps the management behind it.” “Why would the manager still from himself?” “We’re not sure of that yet, but we do have a plan as of how to find out.” “Ok, let’s here it.” “Magda can begin working there. She will be in no danger. At all times a police officer will be either outside, or inside the store.” “I don’t like it.” “She will be fine, and her cover won’t be blown.” “How do you know they’ll give her a job?” Jinny hesitated. “She already has it.” The Captain stared at her hands for a moment, and then looked up at Jinny. “And you did this without my permission?” “It doesn’t start until tomorrow, Captain. If necessary she can make up some excuse and get out of it.” The Captain sighed. “I’m in no condition to make this decision now.” Jinny leaned back and folded her arms. “It’s safe and nothing’s going to happen.” She watched the captain. It was obvious to Jinny now that the captain had had about five drinks too many, something she obviously didn’t do often because she wasn’t hiding it very well. “I want to know every move you two plan on making,” Kate stated bluntly. Jinny stared at the captain curiously. Something was going on with the captain, but she didn’t know how to go about asking the captain about it, for she and the captain weren’t on good terms as it was. “Yeah, ok.” “I sense, that you sense something big is going on.” Jinny nodded, “I do.” “Then we’ll bust them for it,” Kate stated sharply. Jinny watched as Kate looked at her bill and laid the money she owed down on the table. Kate then stood to leave, but lost her balance and slumped back into her seat. “Captain, how about I give you a ride to your house so you can maybe rest and change?” Kate starred at Jinny, and then nodded her head agreeing. She didn’t know what to say to Jinny since she was always getting onto Jinny about her drinking… They both left the restaurant in silence… PLEASE REVIEW! I'll post more A.S.A.P! ks |

Sorry, I thought everyone had quite reading. I have completed writing it, so let me know if you want me to post all of it. Here's some more:
The assistant general manager, Larry Fulder, had been showing Magda around for almost half an hour now, and so far everything seemed very routine to Magda. Now he was heading back to his office to inform Magda of the policies she would have to know by heart. Once in his office he sat down behind his desk and motioned for Magda to sit on the couch. “Ok Loreana, according to your application you have worked in drugstores before, so you know standard procedures. This drugstore however, since privately run and owned, has a few personal rules you might not have had to follow, along with customer policies.” Magda nodded and begin to listen intently. He smiled at her eagerness and began explaining. “We have a few families who use this drugstore that sometimes buy an abundance of drugs at once. It isn’t that they are doing anything illegal, but it is that they are leaving town and need drugs, so we provide them with an abnormal amount. However, the drugs they call for are very rare, so we are only allowed to give out so many at a time. Therefore, we put them in allergy prescribed bottles, or Tylenol bottles, just so they won’t get into any trouble. Also, when we enter these amounts into the computer, instead of three hundred, it’s thirty. We round to the nearest tenth, no matter whether we give them ten or hundred. Always just enter the first to digits.” He paused to make sure she was getting everything. “ These families come in at all times, and we get new families weekly, so the list I give you will be ever changing. You also may notice a price difference for these families. That price different is what’s allowing you to make the amount of money you are, so there’s no need to question it. Sometimes the drugs we provide to these families may be listed as illegal, but they are not—trust us. We have trained professionals here that would never put anyone’s life in danger. Also, on some days, at certain times, I may ask you to take a certain amount of money out of the cash register. Do not question me. We just do this because the bank that keeps our money will only store a certain amount.” He paused and smiled at Loreana. “Everything good?” “Yes, it all sounds fair to me, and you can expect no questions from me whatsoever.” Larry smiled and pulled out a sheet from the top drawer of his desk. “Good, as you know you can start tomorrow, and if this works your hours will expand. Here is a list of the families. Please memorize them so you do not have to pull out this sheet while on the job. Also, if someone approaches you with a thousand- dollar bill and asks for Earl, tell the druggist behind the back counter, his name is Calvin, and he will take care of the customer.” Magda nodded her head and smiled. “Yes, sir. It won’t be a problem.” Larry nodded and then stood, motioning towards the door. “We will see you bright and early in the morning then, Ms. Loreana.” Magda smiled and left the store after thanking the man. She then called a cab and left… … … … … … … … … … … … C.D. and Angela watched as Cynthia finished her food and then looked up and faced them. “I saw the dude outside. I’m assuming he’s gonna be defending?” “You’ve assumed right then,” C.D. stated. “I’ll talk.” C.D. and Angela nodded and settled back to listen. “At about two in the morning two nights ago our doorbell started ringing. I thought maybe it was my mom who had gotten home early because she had been out of town visiting her sister and we expected her sometime Tuesday morning or afternoon. My dad went downstairs to answer it and I sorta lagged behind at the top of the stairs. I’d flunked a Spanish test the day before and told my mom about it over the phone, needless to say she wasn’t very happy so I wasn’t in the biggest hurry to see her face to face.” She paused for a moment, wishing it would have been her mom at the door… She then continued. “Instead some man barged in and shoved past my dad. My dad fell to the floor, not expecting the man to barge in like that. The man turned and yanked my dad up, and began beating him. After about two minutes of that my dad was motionless, so the man ransacked our dining room and living room. I thought maybe he was looking for something, but he left empty-handed after about a ten-minute search. After I was sure he was gone I called 911 and then ran downstairs to check on my dad. He was bleeding real bad and didn’t breathe. I freaked…” “Then our neighbor walked in and tried CPR and stuff, it worked until the cops and ambulance got there. When the cops got there the neighbor was knelt down over my dad, so they just assumed he’d killed him, and then arrested him. My neighbor didn’t kill my dad---he’s a good guy. Cynthia wiped away a single tear that had escaped her eyes. “That’s all there was to it.” “And did you recognize the man who broke into your house?” Angela asked. “It was my uncle—my dad’s brother.” “And you’re sure of this?” C.D. asked. “I’ve told about fifty different people I’m sure of it, you two just make fifty-two. I’m one-hundred percent positive.” C.D. and Angela looked at each other, wondering how this young girl was going to make it through the after effects of such a trauma… “You’re dad’s gonna make it,” C.D. said softly. “I know,” Cynthia said as she began crying. C.D. and Angela rose from their seats and walked out of the room. Theodore was standing there waiting for them. “Her story hasn’t changed, and it’s obvious she’s telling the truth. She’s signed her statement. All you have to do is prepare her for trial,” C.D. explained. Theodore nodded. “Ok, thanks a lot.” C.D. and Angela nodded. “We have to go now. It seems Jinny has a plan cooking and we have to sample the food,” C.D. said. Theodore managed a laugh. “Tell her I said hey.” “Will do,” C.D. said as she and Angela left… … … … … … … … … … … … Please give me your HONEST opinion! ks |

“He really said that?” Jinny asked in amazement. Magda nodded her head. “I was as shocked as you. I really wish I would have been wired.” “Yeah, we couldn’t risk it though. Besides, we’ll catch him in action.” “I have a list of all the families who are buying the illegal drugs. We can run a background check on them and see what turns up.” Jinny nodded as she swung her legs back and forth off the desk she was sitting on. “We have approximately twenty fake prescriptions written by Doctor Stevenson from the clinic just up the road. He was happy to do it. Anyway, they will last us five days since your shift is only four hours.” “I’m impressed, Jinny. You’ve really put some thought into this case.” “Hey, if there’s one thing I hate its drugs, and when they get put out on the street illegally I take it personal.” Magda smiled, “That’s good to hear.” Jinny got off her desk and sat in her chair. She laid out the files and figures she had been going over and began explaining them to Magda. “Ok, so every hour on the hour we will send an undercover cop into the drugstore. They will be there for an hour because you will have them fill out a ton of forms, and then they will sit and wait for the prescription to be filled. After that, another undercover-man will come in, and we will repeat the process your entire shift. There will also be a different vehicle that each officer arrives in. It will be rigged so that someone stays in the car and is able to take pictures of every person who enters the drugstore during that particular hour. By the end of your shift we will have four hours worth of pictures from four different vehicles and cameras.” Magda nodded, “Sounds good to me.” “Good.” Jinny got off the desk and put on her coat. Magda did the same. It was eight at night, and each of their shifts had ended an hour and a half ago. There was no one left in the division but the two of them. “I wonder where Cap’s been all day,” Magda thought to herself out loud. “She’s sick.” “What’s she got?” “O.P.D.” Jinny said hiding a smirk. “What?” “O.P.D. Obnoxious Personality Disorder,” Jinny explained cracking a small smile. Magda rolled her eyes and laughed at Jinny. “You got a strange sense of humor,” she laughed as she walked out the door. “I try,” Jinny said. She breathed a sigh of relief. Magda hadn’t questioned her extensively about Cap, so Jinny didn’t have to reveal she had found ‘Captain Wonderful’ drunk… In the parking lot the two partners said good bye to each other and went their separate ways… … … … … … … … … … Jinny walked down the hall to her apartment door. She fumbled for her keys, and once finding them she unlocked the door and entered the apartment to find Teddy sitting on the couch watching TV. He looked up as she entered and gave her a smile. Jinny wondered how he had gotten in, but she didn’t question him. She took off her coat and put her things down in a nearby chair. She then walked over to the couch and sat down beside Teddy, who put his arm around her. “Rough day?” he asked as he pressed the ‘mute’ button on the television control. “Rough morning,” Jinny sighed. “Yeah, I called here about seven just to talk, but I got no answer. I assumed you got called in on a case.” Jinny smiled, not being able to resist the temptation of the moment. “I had a date,” she said resisting a smile. “Oh really,” Teddy said playfully while praying she was joking with him. “Yes, with a guy by the name of Casey.” “As in your brother Casey?” “Yes indeed.” “Oooooh, ok.” Jinny smiled as she snuggled closer to Teddy. “Everything ok with him?” Jinny sighed and didn’t say anything. She hadn’t told Teddy about Casey’s ‘situation.’ She was secretly afraid to… “Tell me when you’re ready, Jin, and not a second sooner,” Teddy said understandingly. He turned off the TV completely and then lifted his arm and switched off the lamp that was on so the room was completely black. He reached up to the afghan that was lying on back of the couch and spread it out over Jinny. He could tell she was stressed and tired… Within minutes they had each fallen asleep… … … … … … … … … … ks |
