Default Green Lantern Movie in the works....Writers and director are attached

http://www.iesb.net/index.php?option...5319&Itemid=99

Writers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green have gotten the character of the title character right (and how could they not? One of the guys is named ‘Green' for ****'s sake!?).

‘'Also, unlike other recent superhero movies, this Green Lantern story has science fiction elements such as visiting other planets and major space battles'', writes Robert, adding that the film has the potential to be "bigger" than both "The Dark Knight" and "Iron Man".

Oh, and who is going to direct the flick? The site says they've heard that George Miller - who may or may not have recently been fired from the troubled "Justice League" project - may be in talks.

Bigger than Dark Knight and Iron Man?

Slow down there cowboy. For every Iron Man, there's a Fantastic Four.

Never much of a Green Lantern fan. But the fact that Green Lantern has a lot of sci fi elements in it, it might be cool to do a superhero/comic book movie with a little Star Wars thrown in.

I have always been a big Green Lantern fan, I have all the anthology reprints and showcase series that have been released, I had a good run of the original comics from the 70's and 80's, and the entire series with him paired up with Green Arrow.

While I don't think that it is a bad idea to have a movie based on the Green Lantern character, he hasn't been the cultural icon that Superman, Batman, or the X-Men are and probably isn't anywhere near as well known to the general movie-watching public, and to state that such a movie could possibly rival a Superman or Darknight movie is probably a little overzealous.

I think it will be pretty good, it's an original idea that hasn't been done yet like Iron-Man.

That Green Lantern pic Brian posted is artwork by Alex Ross, a legendary comic artist.

He uses live models to give his drawings a very realistic look.

Ha ha... seeing this thread on "Green Lantern" made me think of "Seinfeld" because Jerry and George were pondering something about him in an episode I watched recently!

Sorry... ever since I saw Jerry Seinfeld perform in Vegas I have this addiction to "Seinfeld" and am constantly reminded of it!

Default Green Lantern Movie Starts Shooting Next Spring!

"The structure adheres closely to what I call - the 'superhero origin movie paradigm.' In Green Lantern's case, Hal Jordan has to overcome his selfishness and self pity over the death of his father Martin Jordan which takes place early in the script. Hal Jordan for the first 20 pages or so is a *****. The story follows the Green Lantern origin closely and cinematically speaking – IT WORKS."
