Default Need Help Explain Corner Gas To Me

Im not trying to be a jerk but I have watched the show a few times on WGN and I dont get the humor of the show. Is it a Canadian type humor we dont get in the USA. I mean to me the show is just so dumb & the characters are so boring. Somebody please let me know what makes this a good funny show

it is definitely a show about small town humor, whether it is isolated to a Canadian sense of humor is subjectable, if you don't like it it just may not be your thing - there are PLENTY of top-rated comedies that I don't find the least bit entertaining.

Is it top rated? Because as far as I know WGN is the only bigtime network that carries it

it is a top-rated show in Canada, but I have no idea how it does on WGN, they air it at really odd times

Here in Canada its the only Canadian show that beats all the US shows in the ratings.
The show is hilarious in my opinion, but, to each their own, I guess!

As far as Candian comedy/humor goes I have been a huge fan of the old SCTV since it debuted in syndication in the USA in the 70's. I used to stay up late to watch the 90 minute SCTV NBC used to air late nights. I really miss that show it was hilarious. I wish they would do an SCTV movie while most of the cast is alive and well.

frankly, i find that SCTV has become rather stale to me, but then, I remember watching it since it's debut in the 70s on the then new Global TV net (Which played original Canadian shows back then, but, now plays mainly US shows). Corner Gas, on the other hand, is a fresh approach to comedy as they basically tear down the sitcom "walls" as often as possible! (I really dont like sitcoms with a laugh track anymore, CG has shown me the light!! )

At first it seemed a little too slow paced for me, but the more I watch it, the more I like it. The characters are great and most of the episodes are really funny. Just give it another chance.

It really helps if you are from Saskatchewan, or were born there, which most Canadians are, believe it, or not.

Right, we have the second largest country (in area) in the world, and we all were born in one small province

if you are from a small town it makes more sense, i live in the suburbs and i hated the idea of the show, and then one day i watched an episode and it grew on me, the shows i end liking are shows i didnt give much an chance at first, and the shows im excited about and want to watch, i lose interest quickly for some reason, hot in cleveland is a great example, i was really excited to watch it (mainly because of betty white) but then i watched a few episodes and lost interest quickly,
