In Part 3 of my series on Canadian TV Fall 2008 schedules, I will focus on digital specialty channels. Those are the ones we have to pay for. So how much bang will you be getting for your bucks in September? Take a look and judge for yourselves.
DEJAVIEW ---Owned by the CanWest group ---programs are mainly from the 1960s to 1980s, with this season showing a great emphasis on sitcoms from the early and mid 70s MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY 6:00AM: Night Heat 7:00AM: My Secret Identity 7:30AM: My Secret Identity 8:00AM: Whatever Happened To 8:30AM: FANatical 9:00AM: Neon Rider 10:00AM: My Secret Identity 10:30AM: My Secret Identity 11:00AM: Who's The Boss 11:30AM: Who's The Boss 12:00PM: Roseanne 12:30PM: Roseanne 1:00PM: Three's Company 1:30PM: Three's Company 2:00PM: The Cosby Show 2:30PM: The Cosby Show 3:00PM: All in The Family 3:30PM: All in The Family 4:00PM: Who's The Boss 4:30PM: Who's The Boss 5:00PM: Roseanne 5:30PM: Roseanne 6:00PM: The Cosby Show 6:30PM: The Cosby Show 7:00PM: Three's Company 7:30PM: Three's Company 8:00PM: All in The Family 8:30PM: All in The Family 9:00PM: Good Times 9:30PM: Maude 10:00PM: Neon Rider 11:00PM: My Secret Identity 11:30PM: My Secret Identity 12:00AM: Three's Company 12:30AM: Three's Company 1:00AM: Roseanne 1:30AM: Roseanne 2:00AM: All in The Family 2:30AM: All in The Family 3:00AM: Good Times 3:30AM: Maude 4:00AM: Who's The Boss 4:30AM: Who's The Boss 5:00AM: Magnum PI WEEKENDS 6:00AM: My Secret Identity 6:30AM: My Secret Identity 7:00AM: FANatical 7:30AM: Meet The Collectors 8:00AM: Facts of Life 8:30AM: Facts of Life 9:00AM: Magnum PI 10:00AM: Charles in Charge 10:30AM: Charles in Charge 11:00AM: Who's The Boss 11:30AM: Who's The Boss 12:00PM: Three's Company 12:30PM: Three's Company 1:00PM: The Cosby Show 1:30PM: The Cosby Show 2:00PM: Facts of Live 2:30PM: Kate and Allie 3:00PM: Charles in Charge 3:30PM: Charles in Charge 4:00PM: Who's The Boss 4:30PM: Who's The Boss 5:00PM: Roseanne 5:30PM: Roseanne 6:00PM: The Cosby Show 6:30PM: The Cosby Show 7:00PM: Three's Company 7:30PM: Three's Company 8:00PM: Roseanne 8:30PM: Roseanne 9:00PM: The Cosby Show 9:30PM: The Cosby Show 10:00PM: Neon Rider 11:00PM: My Secret Identity 11:30PM: My Secret Identity 12:00AM: Three's Company 12:30AM: Three's Company 1:00AM: Who's The Boss 1:30AM: Who's The Boss 2:00AM: Roseanne 2:30AM: Roseanne 3:00AM: Charles in Charge 3:30AM: Charles in Charge 4:00AM: Facts of Life 4:30AM: Kate and Allie 5:00AM: Magnum PI TELETOON RETRO ---A spinoff channel from Teletoon, a Canadian cable channel which shows cartoons 24 hours a day ---Between 7 and 9 pm, Teletoon has offered a block of programming which they call Teletoon Retro, featuring classic cartoons from the past like Bugs Bunny and Scooby Doo. This feature has become so popular that in Oct. 2007, Teletoon Retro was launched with programming divided into 4 limited 6 hour blocks. This year's lineup will be decidedly different and better, with 11 new series making their debuts. What's New: The Smurfs, Wait Til Your Father Gets Home, The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries (during the Scooby-Doo rotation), The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo (during the Scooby-Doo rotation), Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Banana Splits Adventure Show, Spider-Man, Reboot and Fraggle Rock What's gone: Rocket Robin Hood 6:00 am Reboot 6:30 am Spider-Man 7:00 am The Tom & Jerry Show 7:30 am Scooby-Doo rotation 8:00 am The Smurfs 8:30 am Alvin and the Chipmunks 9:00 am Fraggle Rock 9:30 am The Raccoons 10:00 am The Pink Panther Show 10:30 am Merrie Melodies 11:00 am Woody Woodpecker 11:30 am The Tom & Jerry Show 12:00 pm The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show 1:00 pm Reboot 1:30 pm The Raccoons 2:00 pm The Banana Splits Adventure Show 2:30 pm The Porky Pig Show 3:00 pm The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle 3:30 pm Superfriends 4:00 pm Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids 4:30 pm The Jetsons 5:00 pm The Flintstones 5:30 pm Scooby-Doo rotation 6:00 pm The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show 7:00 pm The Road Runner Show 7:30 pm Fraggle Rock 8:00 pm The Smurfs 8:30 pm Alvin and the Chipmunks 9:00 pm Wait Til Your Father Gets Home 9:30 pm Woody Woodpecker 10:00 pm The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show 11:00 pm Spider-Man 11:30 pm Reboot 12:00 am Superfriends 12:30 am Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids 1:00 am The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle 1:30 am The Pink Panther Show 2:00 am The Tom & Jerry Show 2:30 am The Road Runner Show 3:00 am Merrie Melodies 3:30 am The Porky Pig Show 4:00 am Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids 4:30 am The Flintstones 5:00 am The Jetsons 5:30 am Wait Til Your Father Gets Home Believe it or not, this might be the best fall lineup I've seen for any channel so far this summer! Still to come: TV Land Canada |

Thanks a lot for doing this!
I'm disappointed with Dejaview, they only get Charles in Charge and Kate & Allie (Who's the Boss? is one that is returning right?). It used to have Taxi and Gilligan and it just seems to be replaying 3-4 shows all day. Teletoon Retro is soo good. It is how the old Teletoon used to be in 1998-1999 but only retro. I have Illico from videotron which doesn't offer the channel so this really bothers me but I still have most of the channels I need. Hopefully, they will soon provide Teletoon Retro. They deserve a round of applause for this! TV Land Canada better be good this year! Are you doing TV Tropolis too, or just Pav? Somebody needs to air The Wonder Years again! |

Big disappointment with Deja View ...... nothing on the schedule is new.
![]() I hope they show the last 2 seasons of Maude this time and not that loop of the first three seasons ONLY. This is so frustrating when they don't show a complete run (all episodes) of a series. |

The two best shows are Good Times and Maude and they're shown only twice a day and everything else is on a ridiculous six times.

Thank you Pavanbadal for doing this. Now the puzzle is finally complete.
At first glance, I'd say the TV Land Canada lineup looks a little better than last year but not as good as I was hoping for. But still---we're getting Bilko! I am so proud. Just for fun, how would you compare it with TV Land USA? My verdict: The original is still better, unless they start filling the schedule with reality shows which is bound to happen at some point. Their best shows are on in the afternoon, while on the Canadian side the best shows come on in the morning. Now if they were to get rid of "Dallas", "Hart To Hart" and "Fantasy Island" and put on a few more sitcoms it would look more promising. One more thing: I agree with those of you who are disappointed with DejaView. I'm not happy with it either. Try Teletoon Retro instead! That's all. Happy viewing everyone! |

TV Land Canada, what a disappointment! They really didn't add anything that should be labelled classic. Ready or Not, that show is from like 1996, it should be on Global or YTV or Family not TV Land, oh boy.
Wonder Years??? |

I'm amazed that they added Bizarre as I actually requested that show on their website. It might be an acquired taste for some people but I always enjoyed it. Too bad there's not more American shows but at least they got rid of the worst Canadian ones like Smith & Smith which should remain unseen by human eyes forever more (hopefully). Bury those tapes.

Although I think TVLand Canada does a little better with their show selection than their American counterpart (TVLand), there's still some shows I question WHY they're even on the schedule, and WHY do they need a 1 hour block each day? ("Bizarre", "Ready or Not", "Smith & Smith", "Veranda Bech Comedy Club") Does anybody even watch this?
Dallas, Hart To Hart, Fantasy Island may not be my cup of tea either but they're still popular shows, with loyal fans. I'm very happy Lassie stayed on the schedule (I'm trying to get a complete set together on dvd )I wish they show new episodes of "Love American Style" & "The Gary Shandling Show". They've just been recycling the same episodes over and over. (and I need the last season of Gary Shandling !!! )The 10 am to Noon block is a waste with the roatating shows each day. I wish we had 4 new comedies in that slot or two new hour long dramas instead. Phil Silvers is a welcome addition, (but only 2 shows a week??!!) Overall - TVLAnd Canada Fall Schedule - |

I love Lassie too and have hardly missed an episode. At least it's a classic show. I was hoping they would add another animal show to go with it, something like Daktari or even The Littlest Hobo (okay maybe not that lol).
The weekend schedule is pretty lame with 6 hours of Dallas - why can't they spare just one of those hours and show us some one season wonders? Somebody has posted an episode of The Paul Lynde show on youtube and it's hilarious, it would be perfect for TV Land wouldn't it? Just give us something we haven't already seen ten million times. Oh well, maybe next year. |

I'm happy as well that Lassie stayed and am happy/surprised that Happy Days is still on. However, they keep reairing the same ones. I don't really watch the show all that much and flipping through yesterday, it was the one with the fencing and I know I have seen that one at least 3x.

Look at BBC Canada's schedule. They are forced to air shows like Holmes On Homes for their Cancon. |

Still, I'm sure there could have been some better choices, i.e. "Beachcombers" (the early years), someone already mentioned "Littlest Hobo" (the origianal & the revival from the early 80's), "The Eddison Twins", "Wayne & Shuster" (if you HAVE to have a variety show). There's so many others. Maybe someone should forward this website to TVLAND Canada or better yet, higher me as their program director. ;( http://www.tvarchive.ca/database/top_rated/ How about this for an early morning all-canadian block? ( 6:00am The Hilarious House of Frightenstein 7:00am Beachcombers 7:30am Littlest Hobo, The 8:00am The Eddison Twins 8:30am The Kids of Degrassi Street (1982-1985) The one that got it all started. This website is excellent. You'd be surprised at how many good Canadian shows there really are. If you're Canadian I suggest you check it out. It's a trip down memory lane. http://www.tvarchive.ca/ SIGN the Bring Back The Beachcombers petition.
