Arrow Crossed Paths... Part 2

(Read the other one first)

I never thought that I'd be "going out" with Teddy Blumenthal. Sure, it had crossed my mind (as all fourteen-year-old, hopelessly in love fanasties do), but I hadn't ever thought it'd actually come true.
Theodore had never told me to go ahead and call him Teddy, but I do anyway. If I called him Theodore, it seems as if we were still neighbors and neither of us knew about the other. So gradually he accepted Teddy -- he said he had been at a boys' prep school for so long they just called him Theodore and he forgot about being called Teddy as he used to -- and after that I guessed we were sort of going together. If he could only transfer to my high school instead of that prep school.
Only my best friend Magda knows about Teddy, other than Casey. I had thanked him for that small service he did two years before, and I never told John I was going with Teddy. He's the kind of brother who just doesn't like his little sister going out while at the same time he hates his little sister's guts. I told Mag he was just wonderful, amazing, and that we talked on the phone a lot. I call him, he never calls me. He's shy, only once I got to know him he wasn't half as shy as he used to be.
I tell Teddy more stuff than I had ever told anyone. I told him I wanted to be a cop (as Dad was, and John and Casey want to be cops too) and he said he wanted to work in law enforcement too. Both of us wanted to work in San Francisco so we wouldn't have to move. It was just fate that Jinny Exstead finally loved a guy that loved, I guess, loved her back. I told Teddy about Mom and how none of us knew why she decided what to do. I guess I really love the guy.

*Gotta go... awaiting comments, there'll be more tomorrow!*

Love is patient and kind, it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil but with the truth. Love never gives up, and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Meanwhile these three remain: faith, hope and love, and the greatest of these is love.

Teddy: Jinny, what are you doing?
Jinny: What am I doing? (louder) What am I doing? I'm having a drink! This is a party, is it not?

Teddy's Dad: So, what about you, Jinny? Please, uh, tell us about some of your cases. The one's you're on. Please.
Jinny: (nods) Well, we just finished one where we nailed this step-father for abusing his step-daughter... yeah. She was three and a half.
Teddy's Dad: Oh, no! That's awful. You know, you can't pick up the--
Jinny: Then there's the one where... wait, we got one pending now, I'm telling you... okay, okay, you with me? So, the guy, he calls 911, okay? He says he's just killed his wife.
Teddy: All right...
Jinny: We can't find the body... Till we look in the refrigerator.
Teddy: Okay... hey, Jinny...
Jinny: Very neatly carved.
Teddy's Dad: Hmm...
Jinny: Mm-hmm.

(Thanx! Here's some more!)
*I'm just guessing on how older/younger Teddy is. It's not true as far as I know!*

Crossed Paths, Part 3 (I guess)

The only thing that we didn't tell each other was our ages. Teddy's fifteen and I'm still fourteen*. It was in a way like I was going out with John - a year older and I felt younger than he was. I'm sure Teddy wouldn't like it that much if he found out that he was dating a lowly little ninth grader. Anyway, I look fifteen. So I didn't tell him that I was fourteen. He could find out on his own. I just hoped nobody told him when we were in the middle of a great relationship.

But somehow someone told him. It must have been John; he had decided to go and meet Teddy because he found out that I was in a relationship, or whoever it was, I felt like killing the person. Mag tells me it wasn't her. I knew she wouldn't do that.
All I knew was one day Teddy came overand said, "You're fourteen."
I tried to act nonchalant. It's not like I froze and thought my life was over. I was waiting to see what he thought. "So?" I asked.
"I thought you were older." Teddy's not big on the confrontations.
"I'm not."
"I know that." The conversation was getting crazy.
"Are you upset?" I asked.
He sighed, the 'Teddy sigh': a long, long one.
"No, not really. It's just you're younger than I am and..."
"And so what? My fifteenth birthday's in six months. I'll be fifteen then and you'll still be it, right?"
"By then I'll be sixteen," he answered.
"I'll be going out with an 'older man' then. Listen Teddy, are you upset or not because I can't tell," I looked him straight in the eye. You really have to get to the point with Teddy. Like Casey, he doesn't get it completely until you really tell him off.
He sighed again. "Jinny... I don't know what to do."

(Well? This is NOT the end - I'll add some more later. Tell me what you thought!!!!!)

This is great!!

------------------
Teddy: What are you afriad of? Your afriad I'll break your heart.

Jinny: Teddy, I would roll over you like Grant took Richmond.

-------------------------

Jinny: Why don't you let me tell you a little about my family. See, I never really had a birthday party, unless of course you WANNA count my 15th, where my father came for cake plastered and in his underwear! Oh, ya. by the way, my mom couldn't make it that year either because sadly 6 months earlier she BLEW HER BRAINS OUT!

Teddy: Jinny, Oh my God!

Jinny: As for my brother, ya, John. See, he just doesn't like you unless your American, white and straight! And, as for me, a few weeks ago, when, ah, I had that nutcase after me, I made a list of all the guys that I've slept with in the past two years...I couldn't remember some of their names.

Teddy: Stop!

Jinny: You know what? THIS IS WHO I AM! THIS IS MY FAMILY. C'mon. It's your turn. You go ahead...flash that all American, prep school, chior boy smile and you tell me that it doesn't matter....it doesn't change anything.....Ya, that's what I thought!

yes..that did take me forever....but that is Jinny's life.

Part Four!

"You don't know what to do?" I repeated. Good job, Jinny, I thought, now that you finally get someone you can't even keep him .
"Jinny, you're too young." I looked at him strangely. "I'm fourteen! You're fifteen! What's a year? John and I are a year apart. So what?"
"You're brother and sister," he answered.
It's not as if I have a short fuse. No, I have a good temper, normally. But not now.
"You're saying we're going to break up next, aren't you?" I asked.
"I didn't even know we were, you know..."
I swallowed to keep from crying. I never cry. I'm not about to be old FaucetFace, I guess, but when I do, John always says my tears run like a faucet. So no wonder I'm secretly known as Jinny 'Faucetface' Exstead.
"Just forget it," I snapped, "just go away and leave me alone. Go back to that prep school and just forget about it. Because I'm forgetting!"

I called Magda immediately and told her that Teddy and I were finished -- no, Theodore and I were finished. He was back to being the loser outsider that everyone, and now me, thought he was, and he hadn't even said he'd remember me when I was sixteen or so. I even doubted he'd remember our cops idea. Theodore and I were finished. Forget being Jinny Blumenthal. Over a couple days, I forgot I knew him. It never crossed my mind. It was the shortest relationship, or in my mind, relationship, that I had ever had to date. A week. Overtime, though, I remembered that Theodore was still around and I thought we could at least be friends. If it wasn't too much to ask, of course. I didn't want to do anything that could ruin that All American, choir boy and prep school neighbor's reputation. I could only imagine him telling people he was going with Jinny Exstead for two weeks before he found out she was too young and juvenile. I don't want to imagine it either.

So a couple weeks to the day I met him, I went over his house. He answered again and immediately I rushed into a thing of how maybe we could be friends, and if that wasn't too much to ask...
I think that he was going to say no right away. He probably didn't want to be associated with me. But all he said was, "Sure. Maybe more."
"Even if I'm fourteen?" I asked..
"Even then."
"You're sure?"
"I'm sure."
I smiled. "So, who told you that I was fourteen?"
"John," he answered, "come on. Let's go do something."
I smiled and somewhat took his hand, not wanting to let go. I had Teddy again. And this time I knew I'd keep him.

(The end! Comments?)
