Default Something Weird about Opening Credits for 1994-95 Season

Did you notice that they updated the Father's Opening but everyone else stayed the same?-lol

Why did the guy who played the Father get a New Intro and none of the other casts members?

Also during that same season Michelle Thomas was added and had a new updated Intro but no one else.

Strange

I kinda think that they had to do it out of necessity because during that season Carl became a Lieutenant for Chicago PD,and a Lieutenant wears a different colored shirt, hence the reason for the update IMO

Well some dont always change. Season 2 updated Eddie, Laura, Richie, and Rachel and added Steve. As well as changing the clips from eps. Season 3 only updated Harriets and Richies as well as changing the clips from eps. Carl, Mother Winslow, and Judy all had the same credit from season 1. Then in season 4 everyones changed except Rachel. Season 5 didnt change anyones, just added a new clip of the family at the end singing at the piano to reflect Judy and Rachels absence. And season 6 changed Carls and aadded Myra, so it always has different changes.

I guess they figured everyone looked the same.

Heres some info I found on the theme song that I thought I'd share.

What a Wonderful World version
It starts on the back of the skyline with the sun rising. Then they show the front of the skyline and the show name. Then they show outside the house. Then they show the family eating breakfast at the table. Then they show Eddie and Carl play basketball. Then they show Carl walk into the police station. Then Carl
comes down the living room stairs with newspaper tucked under his arm in, wearing a blue sweater. Harriet gets up from the piano. Mother Winslow sits on the bench in the porch reading a book. Eddie bags groceries at a store. Then Carl reads Judy a story and they kiss. Then Judy and Laura are feeding pigeons. Laura listens to a walkman in her room. Judy is in the kitchen playing with her dollhouse (Pilot has her doing the same thing, except it's Valerie Jones instead of Jaimee Foxworth, and she in her room). Richie’s sitting on Rachel’s lap and she’s playing with him. Rachel’s in the backyard holding flowers. Then they show the family riding bikes. Then they show a long shot of the family riding their bikes on a bridge. Then they show the family looking at baby Richie. Then they zoom out the house.

Season 1
They zoom in on the skyline. Then they show outside the house and the shows name. Then they show the family eating breakfast at the table. Then it shows everyone’s credits, they are the same scenes as the What a Wonderful World version
Except Mother Winslow’s is updated and they are all shortened. Then they show the family riding bikes. Then they show a long shot of the family riding their bikes on a bridge. Then they show Carl and Eddie playing basketball. Then they show Laura, Eddie, and Judy playing pictionary. Then they show Judy and Laura feeding pigeons. Then they show Carl putting out a fire on the toaster. Then they show Judy slapping Mother Winslow five. Then they show Eddie and Carl bringing a new bathtub in the kitchen and Eddie breaks a window with the shower rod, and we hear glass shatter. Then they show Carl, Harriet, and Rachel hugging. Then they show Judy and Laura singing Stop in the Name of Love. Then they show the family looking at baby Richie. Then they zoom out the house.

Season 2
They zoom in on the skyline. Then they show outside the house and the shows name. Then Carl comes down the living room stairs with newspaper tucked under his arm in, wearing a blue sweater. Harriet gets up from the piano. Mother Winslow sits on the bench in the porch reading a book. Eddie washes the car. Laura stands by the front counter at Rachel's place. Judy is in the kitchen playing with her dollhouse. Richie’s riding a tricycle. Steve’s playing the accordion in the Winslow’s living room. Rachel’s putting down a menu on a table at Rachel's place. Then they show the family riding bikes. Then they show a long shot of the family riding their bikes on a bridge. Then they show Carl teaching Laura, Eddie and Judy to dance. Then they show Eddie giving Laura and Judy a burnt meatloaf. Then they show Steve holding a life-size photo of himself. Then they show Carl watching Laura, Judy and Rachel make tarts. Then they show Laura and Carl trying to dodge an inflating boat. Then they show Judy and Laura feeding pigeons. Then they show Eddie watching Steve dance. Then they show Carl, Harriet, and Rachel hugging. Then they show Judy and Laura singing Stop in the Name of Love. Then they show an updated version of the family looking at Richie. Then they zoom out the house.

Season 3
They zoom in on the skyline. Then they show outside the house and the shows name. Then Carl comes down the living room stairs with newspaper tucked under his arm in, wearing a blue sweater. Harriet comes in and puts flowers on the living room table. Mother Winslow sits on the bench in the porch reading a book. Eddie washes the car. Laura stands by the front counter at Rachel's place. Judy is in the kitchen playing with her dollhouse. Richie’s listening to a walkman. Steve’s playing the accordion in the Winslow’s living room. Rachel’s putting down a menu on a table at Rachel's place. Then they show the family riding bikes. Then they show a different angle long shot of the family riding their bikes on a bridge. Then they show Carl hugging Steve. Then they show Judy and Mother Winslow dancing. Then they show Carl and Richie reading the newspaper. Then they show Steve skating. Then they show Harriet and Rachel fighting with paint. Then they show Eddie playfully punching Carl. Then they show Steve and Lt. Murtagh bumping their drinks. Then they show Waldo getting hit on the head by an orangutan. Then they show the family watching Harriet and Carl dancing. Then they show Carl, Harriet, and Rachel hugging. Then they show the family watching Richie. Then they zoom out the house.

Season 4
They show the skyline. Then they show outside the house and the shows name. Then Carl comes in to the house and puts his police hat on the coat rack wearing his blue police uniform. Harriet comes in to the backyard and reads the mail. Mother Winslow is with a tennis racket. Eddie fixes up his new car. Laura looks at a dress in her room by the mirror. Judy is on the couch reading a book. Richie’s riding a bike. Waldo gets hit in the head with a basketball. Steve’s trying to come in the Winslow’s front door, but they’re all pushed against it to keep him, out. Rachel’s putting down a menu on a table at Rachel's place. (She’s only credited if she appears in that episode.) Then they show the family watching Richie. Then they zoom out the house.

Season 5
They show the skyline. Then they show outside the house and the shows name. Then Carl comes in to the house and puts his police hat on the coat rack wearing his blue police uniform. Waldo gets hit in the head with a basketball. Steve’s trying to come in the Winslow’s front door, but they’re all pushed against it to keep him, out. Then they show the family singing around the piano. Then they zoom out the house.

Season 6
They show the skyline. Then they show outside the house and the shows name. Then Carl’s on the top of the stairs putting on his police hat, wearing his new white police uniform. Harriet comes in to the backyard and reads the mail. Mother Winslow is with a tennis racket. Eddie fixes up his new car. Laura looks at a dress in her room by the mirror. Richie’s riding a bike. Waldo gets hit in the head with a basketball. Myra’s sitting next to Steve at a restaurant and tries to blow in his ear, but he just moves away. (She’s only credited if she appears in that episode.) Steve’s trying to come in the Winslow’s front door, but they’re all pushed against it to keep him, out. Then they show the family singing around the piano. Then they zoom out the house.

I just wish they would have kept the theme song beyond Season 6. I'm planning to try and create one for YouTube of Season 7 with stuff from Season 6 once Nick-at-Nite gets through most of the episodes.

Yeah. I saw at You Tube that someone made up a lengthened version of the season 4 and season 5 openings. I really enjoyed that. I'd like to see what the theme would have looked like if it had lasted through seasons 8 and 9. (Season 7 did use the opening theme in 'Talk's Cheap' and the Christmas ep, so in a way, you could say that the opening there was the same as season 6.) I would like to see what it had looked like if Orlando Brown or JudyAnn Elder were in the opening credits.
