GONE are those heady days of TV stars like Jerry Seinfeld, Tim Allen and NBC's "Friends" earning $1 million per episode.
But, let's face it - it's not exactly hard times out there in series-land, either. Take "Two and a Half Men" star Charlie Sheen, who tops TV Guide's annual list of the tube's top-paid stars - and he's only raking in $825,000 per episode (or $18 million for a 22-episode season, including his ownership stake in the hit sitcom). Sheen is followed on the list by soon-to-leave "CSI" star William Petersen ($13.2 million), who qualifies as prime-time's top-paid dramatic actor and is also one of the show's executive producers (read: more cash in his pocket). And having a great "character" voice really pays: The principal cast members of "The Simpsons" earn $9 million a year apiece - the same as "Law & Order: SVU" star Mariska Hargitay. Kyra Sedgwick, star of TNT's top-rated "The Closer" takes the cake as cable's top-paid on-screen talent. Sedgwick earns $275,000 each week, which would equal $3.6 million for a 13-episode season. (The number of episodes-per-season varies in cable - anywhere from 13 episodes to 19 episodes for Lifetime's "Army Wives".) Compare Sedgwick's weekly paycheck to that of "Burn Notice" star Jeffrey Donovan - who, by comparison, takes home a $55,000 paycheck each week, according to TV Guide. But, hey, he's a newcomer - and it's a living, right? In the reality category, no one comes close to "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell, who pulls in a staggering $50 million each year. Like Petersen and Sheen, Cowell also owns a part of the show, so he far outdistances his fellow "Idol" judge, Randy Jackson, who earns $2 million each season. TV Guide will publish the entire list in its issue out on Thursday. http://www.nypost.com/seven/08052008...ney_123012.htm |

If anyone from "Two and a Half Men" is the highest paid actor on television it should be Jon Cryer. Charlie Sheen, in my opinion, doesn't deserve it.
