Default Should there ever be "EMPTY SHELVES" inside of a store?

I mean how frustrating is it to have your mind set on something you want and you get to the store and it's all gone? Which leads me to this question

What were the managers in store doing when that particular product was RUNNING OUT?-lol

well they have to wait for the items to be delivered before they can restock, don't they?

the more popular the item, then usually they re-order before it's all completely sold out.

Unless the product is on sale, Wouldn't it be just as easy to go to another store and try finding the item there?

when I go grocery shopping i want to go to ONE store and get it over with...

my local store is horrible for empty or understocked shelves and having shelves filled with items with past due "sell before" dates on them - and when you point it out to a manager, the next time i see them, the items have the "MANAGER'S SPECIAL" tags on them, I saw some packages of cheese strings in there a couple days ago with a "sell before" date of June 28th on them.

I normally do all my shopping at one store but if they're out of stock on a sale item then I'll go to the next location and try to find it there. There are 6 stores within a 4 mile radius of me so it's not like it's out of the way.

I thought there was a law of some kind that required stores to remove an item from it's shelves once it had reached or exceeded the expiration date. Those cheese strings you saw had no business being on the shelf that long after the sell by date. Speaking of sell by dates, One thing I can't stand is these companies that put it in a damn code that you need a rosetta stone decipher.

There are actually only a few things that are illegal to sell after the sell by date. At least in Ohio, cause there are salvage grocery stores popping up all over around here.

We had a salvage store that was selling Campbells soup by the case (24) and the management took a permanent marker and marked through the expiration dates on each can. That place didn't stay in business long after that.

well the whole point of a salvage store is to sell expired things, so idk why theyd change the dates lol.

They didn't change the dates, They marked through the originals. I can't speak for Ohio but here in NC such practices don't set too well with the health dept.

Not always. But I just think it looks bad to have a empty shelf in a store, poor management

I see your point but if the store is out of stock and can't get more until the next truck arrives then what more can you do? This happens quite frequently around here if an item is on sale or if bad weather is imminent. When that happens, All the stores are flogged by people trying to stock up especially on bread and milk.

Have a note posted where the empty shelf is saying something. just having it empty shows the store is not being ran the right way

If an item is out of stock and the shelves are empty because of it then the stores around here will usually have a sign letting customers know when more will become available. If a sale-priced item is out of stock then I just get a rain check and get it later.
