Default Nightmare On Elm St,remake with out Robert Englund.

No official plot yet, but the original film told the story of a child murderer named Fred Krueger, who was burned to death after the town decided to fight back agianst his crimes. Now Fred's spirit haunts the dreams of the teenaged children of the lynch mob that killed him.

LATEST NEWS

7.30.08
Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia, Cape Fear, Wolf) is set to script this "re-imagining," with plans to release in time for the original film's 25th anniversary. The studio is aiming for a more psychological approach. Robert Englund has not been asked to reprise his role as Freddy, and considering the studio is looking to start fresh, they will likely pick another actor to dawn the glove.

Added to the database.

DETAILS

- Scripted by Wesley Strick (Arachnophobia, Cape Fear, Wolf).
- It's said the film will take a more psychological approach.
- It's unlikely that Robert Englund will return as "Freddy Krueger," since Platinum Dunes is attempting to "re-invent" the series and start fresh.
- Once again this is a "re-imagining" of the original film, with hopes of giving the story a complete "overhaul."
- Platinum Dunes (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake, Friday the 13th remake) is behind this.
- The franchise was also turned into a television series that ran for two seasons from 1988 to 1990, where Freddy played host to a collection of strange tales.
- No relation to the Nightmare on Elm St. prequel that's supposedly "in talks" right now, although, I wouldn't be surprised if the two projects blended together.
- A remake of the original 1984 Wes Craven film starring Robert Englund as the iconic Freddy Krueger.

Hope they do it justice, but, the orignal is still the best.

Nightmare on Elm Street without Mr. Englund/Freddy Krueger is like Bewitched without Dick York, peanut butter without jelly, and Journey without Steve Perry. I'm not a horror fan, but the character/movies are such a part of pop culture that it doesn't seem right. Still, what can you do?

It's also like I Dream Of Jeannie 15 years later without Larry Hagman.
