Default Sony: What can we do?

Okay, I made another thread teasing about suing Sony for mental anguish (which WAS a joke, by the way) but seriously...there's obviously a lot of FOL fans besides me who are just as angry as I am that it honestly doesn't look like Sony is going to release any more seasons. I've e-mailed Sony a couple of times expressing my frustration and I've gotten the same old automated e-mail back, which means they probably didn't even read what I've written, and based on what a lot of you have said, I guess it's safe to assume that a lot of you have gone through the same thing. What we need to do, obviously, is somehow get Sony's attention and get them to listen to what we are saying. We've all tried to, not successfully...not through any fault of our own, but because Sony's an @$$! I don't know how we could go about doing this, but in my opinion, our best course of action is to somehow take our case to the media. If we can get media attention for our discontent with Sony (to put it mildly!) then Sony HAS to listen to us. I don't know if there are any SO members who have any connections with the media...TV, newspapers, whatever. Another huge problem is the fact that I know that I've gone to the DVD-part of Sony's web site trying to find a number to call to talk to an actual HUMAN BEING and as I'm sure we've all discovered, IT'S NOT THERE! I could be wrong, and if I am, I'm sincerely begging the SO members to enlighten me. Maybe if we all start calling Sony nonstop, all of us here at SO making numerous calls to them a day about this, maybe, just MAYBE that'll get it through their fat heads if they've got enough disgruntled customers complaining to them about it. Any other ideas for getting Sony's attention are much more than welcome, and on my end, BEGGED FOR! I want this to be a thread for brainstorming and ideas. As many SO members as there are who feel the same way about Sony as we do, there's got to be some creative soul amongst us who can come up with a sure fire way to get Sony's attention and make our voices heard. Sitting around and hoping is for the birds...we've been doing that for the past year. Now it's time for action, so please...thoughts, ideas, ANYTHING you guys can think of, DO TELL IN THIS THREAD! I do not accept that there is no possible way for us to make our voices heard at Sony. There has to be SOME way.

Thank you all!

I'm not really sure that there really is anyhting we can do. Don't get me wrong, I wish that there was something we could do. First off, we really don't know why Sony decided to discontinue FOL DVDs. Maybe there was a drop in sales between the first set and the second set. I don't know. The problem is also even if we got a petition together with as many as 1,000 names, that isn't going to mean anything to Sony. 1,000 people isn't enough customers to make a DVD a huge seller.

I'm hoping that Sony sells the rights to the show to another distributor. Just like Universal did with Charles In Charge.

Could it be possible for fans of Facts and other classic TV shows they've obviously discontinued, such as "All in the Family" and "The Jeffersons," to ban together, so to speak? I dunno...maybe we can petition Sony to go ahead and sell the rights to another distributor like you said. There has to be SOME way. Maybe we just haven't found it yet. And if there's any SO Facts lurkers out there, now is THE TIME to post if you have an idea. There has to be some way, Mike...somehow! Brainstormers, do come aboard...please!

By George, I think I've got it! LOL! Okay, I don't REALLY think I've got it, but I think I do have a potentially good idea, anyway. Why don't we ask all of our friends, as well as everybody here at SO, to boycott Sony? I'm not talking their DVDs, but an across-the-board boycott...ALL their products, even electronics? I can put up a request in the Chit Chat board so the SO members who don't visit the Facts board can at least know about the idea. We can ask all SO members to start a Sony boycott, and in addition, to ask their friends to boycott Sony, and in addition to that, for any and all SO members here who have their own web site, they can make the Sony boycott request there. I mean, it's just an idea, but if we can convince all our friends and acquaintances to go for it for our sake and keep making the request all over the Internet, it just might work. And when Sony finally wants to know why the big boycott, we lay it on 'em about our DVDs. Several SO members here know how to post videos on Youtube...maybe some of you could make a Youtube video request to boycott Sony for our cause, perhaps? I mean, I don't know. It may sound nuts, but it's an idea I just got, and this thread is officially dedicated to brainstorming. Any other ideas are more than welcome like I said, and obviously, desperately needed!

I agree with the YouTube thing; I saw a bunch of videos where they were telling people to boycott Viacom and they got great responses so maybe someone could put up a video telling people to boycott Sony because they are pigheaded bastards who don't care about what fans want, particularly classic TV fans. Maybe we can include in it what shows Sony has discontinued from being put out on DVD and that way we can get all the fans of all the shows together to make Sony see the light or something.
I can't believe that a big corporation like Sony doesn't have a phone number . Do they have like an actual address? Maybe instead of e-mailing Sony we should try snail mail. Maybe then they would actually read what we have to say and then they would have no choice but to write us back with an answer.
On another note, I'm just sad and mad that Sony is neglecting one of their best selling series and basically blowing it off the face of the Earth. First, they stop putting out DVD's then they took all those episodes off of YouTube due to copyright (after practically the whole series was put on there; I'm so mad that I didn't get to see them all while they were there ) and unlike the shows they choose to promote, FOL isn't on in syndication anywhere. Seriously, what is so wrong with this show that's making Sony not want to do anything with it anymore?

I don't know...I've been thinking about the whole Sony boycott thing and I think I was off my rocker a little bit for suggesting it. I think the idea's too wild. Besides which, it would probably just be a waste of time and effort and energy anyway because we all know Sony's just going to be a horse's petute (sp.??) about it. It might be a better idea for someone to post a video on Youtube asking Sony just to sell the distribution rights or whatever to another company that'll release the other seasons quickly. I think that would be the quickest, most efficient way to get results because let's face it: the Sony issue has become a dead horse. They're a big corporation, and they're idiots who don't care about what we want.

Maybe if someone will post a Youtube video asking Sony to sell the rights to another company, a lot of people will want to sign a petition asking them to do so and maybe, JUST MAYBE that'll get us somewhere. Those are my thoughts and opinions. If anybody has any other ideas, which I'm sure you do, PLEASE speak up, and my thanks to everybody who already has.
