Perhaps she's fed up with sharing the spotlight — even with herself.

Miley Cyrus, the teen queen who has been playing her TV alter ego, Hannah Montana, for five years now (since she was just 11 years old), may be ready to leave the show behind. "We're thinking this is our last season," Cyrus said in an interview with E!. "We basically did two seasons in one last year. Usually people would do one season that would be, like, 16 episodes, and we did almost 30 episodes!"

But she won't be shedding her (blond) roots right away — the show will still air for at least one more season. Said a rep for Disney, "We start production on the third season of Hannah Montana on August 4 and have an option for a fourth season beyond that." — Nina Hämmerling Smith

where are they getting 5 years from?

Hannah Montana started in 2006...meaning she was like 13 when she started.

anyway, i hope she gets rid of the whole Hannah Montana alter-ego and sticks with just being Miley Cyrus. it would make her slightly more tolerable.

She first auditioned for the part when she was 11. But they told her she was too young. Originally, they wanted singer JoJo to play Hannah, but she turned it down.

well thats kind of misleading then...she hasnt really been playing her for 5 years, lol.

The show started 3 years ago, Miley was 13. 3rd season is coming, and Hannah Montana The Movie is coming next year!

It kind of is...I don't know why they said that...
But it honestly doesn't seem like she's been playing Hannah for very long at all!! At least not to me!!
