I also wish they wouldn't make all the contestants choose songs from just one particular singer or band. (Like Mariah Carey or The Beatles.)

anything that isnt a crappy, specific, one-person theme. the themes this past season were awful. they need to drop the mentors and go back to the way the themes were in the first 4 or 5 seasons.

some old themes they should bring back:
Movies
Billboard #1s
decade themes (but not in the semis.)
Love songs
Disco
Standards
Country

themes that should never happen again ever:
Songs from the year you were born
Latin pop
most people themes

I remember when they did Latin music night last season. No offense to fans of that kind of music, but that was my absolute least favorite performance night ever!

The PC liberals are going to be coming after me now for saying that, aren't they?

yeah Latin night was awful. they did it in Season 3 too and it was bad then, so i have no idea why they brought it back.

or maybe even previous contestants week, since many nonwinners have great songs, I usually don't like it when they focus on just one singer, but if it's a singer w/many kinds of songs/music, i mean dolly parton night wasn't good/mariah carey wasn't good idea, thank goodness it showed off david cook's skill, i don't blame him for changing it completely!

i don't know about Elvis week. i didn't buy it when Danny N sang 'Jail House Rock.' seriously, that performance sticks out in my mind because it was so horrible. some people can pull it off, some can't.
like Joe said: people themes don't work! they either pull it off or they bomb because you can't buy them singing a certain song. their voices don't match the rythem or whatever. that's why i didn't like Danny's version of JHR, anyway.

I'm Hispanic and I never liked the Latin theme nights. I think they should do a theme night about songs about death.
