I am excited that CBS/Paramount is picking up after MPI on the BH DVD releases, but I am reading that CBS/Paramount "butchers" shows by leaving out original music, not providing original, unedited shows, etc. I think they did a good job with "I Love Lucy" but what have they done to other shows anyway? Is "I Love Lucy" edited and butchered, too? In the ILL releases, they seemed to be the original, unedited episodes with everything intact.
I hope they don't alter The Beverly Hillbillies....

well, with season 2 of "THE FUGITIVE" they replaced virtually ALL of the background music. (not just some, but ALL!!!
)Let's just keep our fingers crossed that they don't pull something similar with BH! (from what I hear though, they say the opening and closing theme will be on it, intact. And they're using 35mm film instead of 16mm, which MPI did. And 35mm gives a better picture. So there is hope!) Personally, I think that they're not saying anything because they know peoples expectations are high, and they're doing all they can to do the best job possible. The same with their upcoming release of "MY 3 SONS". |

Well Lucy was before the whole restructuring of Viacom which led to CBS/Paramount being created. Since that time, their DVDs really deteriorated for some reason...I don't know why. Before, CBS DVD releases and the Paramount Television ones were much better, I don't think the music problems and editing problems were there back then.
There's also the plastering of Paramount logos of any kind, which PTV did sometimes but were improving on (the Split Box Paramount logo of the '70s appeared on all Brady Bunch seasons and the first season of Happy Days). Not only does it come off like they want to wipe Paramount Television from existence, but it's like CBS is putting under its thumb shows it DIDN'T air or create (which, if I didn't know better, would appear to be to spite ABC and NBC. Egos are very strong forces in the entertainment business) So yeah, I won't buy anything from CBS DVD and that won't change until there are major changes with how they treat the Classic Element. |

They also butchered Gomer Pyle & The Odd Couple, not even known for music, but if a single line was sung by felix it was cut......btw...I love Petticoat and will be forced to rebuy the first half of season 1, since MPI could only release half of it, still recommended though because of the incredible extras and linda kaye episode introductions. But isn't it curious that Paramount can release a full 39 or so episodes of petticoat season 1 and only give us a part one season one of My Three Sons?, if anything petticoat should have picked up where MPI left off, in the middle of season 1.
