C.C. DEVILLE Wants POISON Concerts To Be 'Honoring To God' - July 22, 2008
Pete Wilson, the pastor at Cross Point Church in Nashville, Tennessee recently got a call from POISON guitarist C.C. DeVille asking for advice and inviting him to POISON's July 8 concert at the Sommet Center in Nashville. According to Pete, "C.C. has just become a Christian and was wondering if I would be willing to bring him some messages he could listen to on the road, as well as just encourage him, and answer a few questions." Pete added, "This guy [C.C.] has an amazing heart. We spent some time with him pre-concert and before he went to get ready to go on stage he said, 'Pete, would you watch the show tonight and tell me if you see me do anything that would not be honoring to God.' Are you kidding me???? "After the concert we had a creative team meeting with him where we suggested a few different ways he could interweave the story of what God is doing in his life through his music. The entire experience was surreal, to say the least." Video footage of C.C. discussing such topics as "cussing, elder meetings, accountability and Guitar Hero" can be viewed below. WTF???
CC is a Christian?? I just saw Poison last night and they had a video screen up again the back of the stage. At the beginning of the show, they had a message something like "Tonight's show might be considered inappropriate for some people. Well, what did you expect?" Then during the show, they were showing images on naked women(of course), and at times, I felt like I was watching soft porn!! I mean I'm not a prude but in light of your post.... I'm sure CC has an amazing heart and seems like a nice guy. I also know he went through a really bad time with drugs, which I'm glad he pulled himself out of. That, and now he has a child, maybe that's why he going the "christian" way. While I do admire that, I'm surprised he wants this pastor to see this show with those images on the screen. I know he basically wants this pastor to be more focused on his playing, but you can't ignore those images!!

Yeah, it's really strange, I'm not sure if maybe CC is going through that weird "transitional" phase where he's become one thing yet has to deal with band members who don't share in that commitment. It's hard to say.
Interestingly, CC was actually a member of Stryper when they were known as Roxx Regime back in the early 80's before they became born again. Both Stryper and Poison were originally on the Enigma label. Speaking of which, it remains an enigma as to why he identifies with being a born again Christian and yet there's a bit of skin shown on the screens at a Poison show....
