Default If I Took Over TV Land...

Beginning in September of 2008, here's how the schedule would look.

6:00am - “The Three Stooges”
6:30am - “The Three Stooges” Concluded (3 shorts like AMC’s a few years back)
7:00am - “Batman”
7:30am - “Batman”
8:00am - “The Monkees”
8:30am - “The Partridge Family”
9:00am - “The Patty Duke Show”
9:30am - “Dennis the Menace”
10:00am - “Ben Casey”
10:30am - “Ben Casey” Concluded
11:00am - “Make Room for Daddy”
11:30am - “Make Room for Daddy”
12:00pm - “Route 66”
12:30pm - “Route 66” Concluded
1:00pm - “The Lucy Show”
1:30pm - “Petticoat Junction”
2:00pm - “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour”
2:30pm - “The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour” Concluded
3:00pm - “The Fugitive”
3:30pm - “The Fugitive” Concluded

Twice as Nice
4:00pm - “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis”
4:30pm - “The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis”
5:00pm - “Happy Days”
5:30pm - “Happy Days”
6:00pm - “My Three Sons”
6:30pm - “My Three Sons”
7:00pm - “The Donna Reed Show”
7:30pm - “The Donna Reed Show”

Primetime Lineup
8:00pm - “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”
8:30pm - “Rhoda”
9:00pm - “The Odd Couple”
9:30pm - “Taxi”
10:00pm - “Chico and the Man”
10:30pm - “Welcome Back, Kotter”
11:00pm - “Barney Miller”
11:30pm - “The Bob Newhart Show”
12:00am - “Laugh-In”
12:30am - “Laugh-In” Concluded

Insomniac Land: Short Lived Shows
1:00am - “My Mother the Car”
1:30am - “My Living Doll”
2:00am - “The Bill Dana Show”
2:30am - “Accidental Family”
3:00am - “Phyllis”
3:30am - “The Bill Cosby Show”
4:00am - “Fish”
4:30am - “The Baileys of Balboa”
5:00am - “Good Morning, World”
5:30am - “Mona McClusky”

All of these shows are from the 1950s, 60s and 70s (with some 70s shows pouring into the 80s). For the most part the schedule would stay the same through December, except for the short-lived shows which I might change after a few months.

excellent schedule, but it would NEVER work for TVLand because too many people would like it - and they just can't have that.

If I were in charge of TVLand, first off no more shows past 1970. A good portion of those shows are aired elsewhere, and that would leave room for more shows from the 50's and 60's that seldom(if ever) get shown. Also I would program more of the rock and roll music shows like Shindig, Hullabaloo and the like.

I've typed up schedules in the past with just 1950s and 60s programming. But for TV Land I think it works best if we include the 1970s as well.

And also, only one show is complete on DVD (The Monkees). The rest either haven't finished or haven't started their DVD runs yet.

As for The Monkees, I just think it would make a nice companion to the 1960s Batman series. That's why I added it to the lineup.

Would be a great lineup--if the channel were called Turner Classic Television

I still say Ted Turner missed the boat when he didn't think of this channel.

Fine, then go watch someone else's imaginary TV Land.

As for the 1970s, I'm not a huge fan of the Norman Lear stuff that the 70s are famous for. I'm more a fan of (the shows I listed in my schedule) The Odd Couple, Taxi, Mary Tyler Moore, Bob Newhart, those type shows. I respect Lear's shows and enjoy some of them some of the time but I really love the other 70s shows.

Simmer Down Adam, breathe in, breathe out, take it easy buddy. If you are looking for a fight, try boxing. Me no fuss, no fight. I think you misunderstood me. I prefer 50's and 60's TV, but there are a handful of shows from the 70's I dig. I just think they take too much attention away from overlooked gems from previous decades.

Give me time and I'll come up with my dream TV Land schedule.

I was just joking around. If you knew me, you'd know I can't stand confrontation, lol. That's why you'll never see me in the Politics Board.

And for the record, I don't have the "onions" to try boxing.

I love your schedule, Adamantium! Most of those shows I absolutely love! Especially Dobie Gillis. I remember when it used to come on the GOOD "Nick at Nite"!

I agree that with TV Land, there shouldn't be any shows that are older than the 70's. I could deal with shows that ran until the 80's (as someone pointed out), but I think 80's shows are just too "new" for TV Land. Plus, it makes me feel old, because I remember when they first premiered!

Okay, that being said, here's my list of what should be on Nick at Nite:
The Patty Duke Show
The Munsters
Love Boat
Fantasy Island
Brady Bunch
I Love Lucy
Dobie Gillis
Leave it to Beaver

Happy Days
Laverne and Shirley
Hart to Hart
Partridge Family
Monkees
All in the Family
Archie Bunker's Place
Muppet Show
Vega$
Welcome Back, Kotter
Bewitched
Dick Van Dyke
Get Smart
Green Acres
My Three Sons
Donna Reed
Father Knows Best

Andrea
