Question about the meaning of this song...

Hold on by Wilson Phillips? I've seriously listened to it a billion times and can't figure what the song means. I've search everywhere and tried lyrics analyzer and I still can't find anything.

My friend told me it was about Suicide, which fits with the chorus but not other parts. In case you haven't heard the song, here are the lyrics:

What parts of this song don't seem like suicide?

I don't get a suicide vibe at all. Sounds as if someone is telling a person who is emotional pain to stay strong and that life will change and get better.

It could mean one or two things (in my opinion):

1. A person can hurt you so bad that it makes you want to turn around and say goodbye: Suicide. You want to kill yourself over how someone else has treated you or how you perceived it to be hurtful. A broken heart, etc.

or

2. They treat you in such a way that it makes you want to say goodbye. You leave their stupid a$$...LOL You don't want to put up with their crap anymore so you leave the relationship
