Got this from Dark Horizons:

MGM and Idealogy Inc. are developing a musical feature version of the 1983 cult comedy "Valley Girl" reports the trades.

Martha Coolidge directed the original about the mixed-clique relationship between a punk (Nicolas Cage) and a Valley girl (Deborah Foreman).

The new version will mix the story of the original with a musical score of '80s tunes. Sean Bailey and Matt Smith will produce.

Great film, don't touch it!

Geez... they are trying to make a musical out of everything. Right now in Seattle, "Shrek the Musical" is showing, and last year we had "The Wedding Singer". Have no idea if either were any good.

I haven't seen either, so I can't comment. I have no desire to see them, either.
