Tassler said she’s disappointed with the ratings for Swingtown but has yet to decide whether to order any more episodes beyond the initial 13 planned for this summer.

That's not all bad news, really. Ratings have been slowly picking up over the past few episodes, plus it has seemed to level out just below 6 million viewers. Hopefully more people will tune in between now and episode 13.

Compared to the Friday summer series Flashpoint, Swingtown is a big dud really. Flashpoint has done much better thus far and that show is on Friday at 10 on CBS. With Flashpoint doing better, the chances of Swingtown returning are lower.

Flashpoint has only been on for 2 episodes, and it's showing the same ratings that Swingtown was at that point. They both premiered about the same, and dropped about the same in their second weeks - I believe Flashpoint actually dropped more than Swingtown did. We'll just have to wait and see how both level out once their 13 episodes are over.

Yeah, but that show airs on Fridays...while Swingtown is in on Thursdays. Swingtown launched to 8.57 million, then slipped to 7.0, 6.01, 5.63, 4.51 (July 3), 5.28, and 5.32 million. The last two airings have been the lowest despite CSI repeats being its highest of the summer so far (9 million+).
Flashpoint premiered to 8.13 million last Friday despite airing on a lower rated night and a much lower rated lead-in. Final numbers for this Friday are not out yet, but it still did over 7 million and built on its second half. Yes, still early, but as of now, Flashpoint has a better shot of returning of the two. |

Swingtown, after losing audience through it's first few episodes, has gained steadily over the last couple of episodes. And audiences are always lower during summer anyway - move it to another day of the week and air it during fall/spring and CBS would have a decent placeholder show.

Seth, it gained just once. 4.51 million on July 3 doesn't really count since it was the day before 4th of July, and everything was WAY down that night. So the only gain was 5.28 to 5.32 million. 4.51 to 5.28 million is a gain, but why count July 3? Retention from CSI was worse on those two airings (5.28 and 5.32 mil) than the previous episodes. It's already airing Thursdays...what other day would be better, lol? CBS didn't like the show, why do you think it was held for summer? It was supposed to come mid-season, but they didn't think it would work.

But I think it is holding on its own pretty well. I would count the July 3rd airing, because it was still an original episode airing that night. Even if you wouldn't, the show has still evened out in the 5-6 million range, and its 18-49 demographic (while not all that great) is still one of the best for CBS summer. Like I said, we really need to see how both shows end up doing in the next few weeks. If they're looking for another summer show next season, why not renew it?

Well if Nina says she is disappointed, it doesn't look too good.

If it drops in the next few episodes, I"ll agree that it's pretty much over, but if it can maintain what it's doing and grow on it, then I wouldn't say it's over yet.

Well, effective this week, Flashpoint is moving to Thursdays at 10 while Swingtown is moving to Fridays at 10 for the rest of the summer.
