Default Dance Shows: Shoe selection

I notice that on "Dancing With the Stars," the ladies not only always wear shoes, but high heels. I always thought it made it more difficult to dance in heels and wondered why they always did it. I see on "So You Think You Can Dance," however, many of the dancers perform barefoot. Is there a difference in rules on the shows?

Ballroom dancing is what they do on Dancing with the Stars. It may be uncomfortable to dance in high heels. I had no problem dancing with high heels. Tina Turner continues to perform wearing high heels. The ladies in ballroom dancing are trained and accustomed to the height of the shoe and it adds elegance to the dances they do. It would look awful to dance in a flat shoe. If you notice carefully, even the men wear a specific type of dancing shoe on Dancing with the Stars. Depending on the dance they are doing, they wear what would go with their costume.

As for SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, I have only seen the promos, not the actual show, but that is a different kind of show and different types of dancing. I don't think they are being scored for the kind of shoe they are wearing, merely the dance.

Thanks for the response and information. By the way, I noticed your "crap Land" avatar. It seems like every site I visit that is tv related, everyone is talking about how TV Land is going downhill. I wonder if they will finally get the message?

Anytime.

Yeah, Crapland is just that...crap. No offense to those who like the original programming on that channel, merely my disgust at how little by little the classic shows are being removed and how much time the original programming is given such as those mini-marathons.
