I wondered if you could talk to Rose Marie and ask her about anything from the DVD show or her career, what would you ask? (other than favorite episodes, things that she's answered alot before...) Thanks!

I've heard that RM resented MTM the first season or so because MTM got all the attention from the men, understandably. Could also be that some people just dont warm up to each other, and it's that simple.

If I were to ask RM one question, it would be 'Where did you buy that liquid gravel that you seem to gargle'?

From reading both MTM and RM's autobiographies, I understood that she hated MTM because she was younger, prettier, was built better, and got the attention of the men. Also, Sally Rogers was supposed to be the leading lady of the show, but the public fell in love with Laura, and so she became the main lady.
I would ask her what it was like to be a child star, why she really hated MTM, and what was it like t be on a hit TV show, and what is DVD really like? Is he as absolutely wonderful as he seems? and stuff like that!

Originally Rose Marie was the leading actress in the show and Mary Tyler Moore's role was a small one. But the public fell in love with MTM and she became the breakout character of the show. The original premise was more emphasis on the office life and not so much on his homelife. After the first season when MTM was featured in the episode My Favorite Brunette we saw how funny MTM was in that show and her role became bigger. That was the reason for the friction between those two but they weren't at each other's throats. Rose Marie admitted that she was jealous of Mary because she was younger and prettier plus she became unoffically the lead actress on the show.

The funny thing about it was when the cast was introduced at the beginning of the show it was always, "and Mary Tyler Moore." Mary was always the last one to be introduced on the show.

Just because she was last in the opening credits doesn't mean she was intended to be a "lesser" star. Being introduced last along with the use of the word "and" usually gives them special importance. e.g. "and Jerry Mathers as the Beaver", "and James Drury as the Virginian", "and, of course, Lassie."

I think she had the best place to be mentioned. You always will remember "and Mary Tyler Moore!" You can barely hear "Rose Marie" Her name kinda got swallowed. P.S.: A friendly correction: It's "My Blonde Haired Brunette" not "My Favorite Brunette"

Thank you for the correction. Mary was over the top on that one. Carl Reiner had stated how surprise he was that she can do comedy and it was natural at it. Mary had a flair about doing comedy and being funny still have her feminity about it. Mary had stated that was her favorite all time episodes of The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Oh I heard her state once that "The Curious Thing About Women" was her favorite episode. Maybe it has changed...

Did anyone read her book where at the end it said "I forgot to tell you about the bow..." then on the next page in her handwriting "IT'S A SECRET!!! ~Rose Marie"

haha that part bothered me! It's one thing I've never understood - why she wore the bow. On an interview I've seen her in (TV Archive interview, I believe) she said she will never tell why she always wears it.

Anyone have any ideas as to why?

I think she started wearing on The DVD Show and it became her trademark...
I think the thing is that that's it, no real juicy reason why. Just because it's her trademark. Just to make people THINK that there is a reason...
