Default What reason was there for choosing Davey Jones for the episode

where Marcia is fan club president of his fan club and have him make an appearance? Out of all the teen hearthrobs available, was he the only one they could get? Was it merely a plug for his song "Girl" which was the opening song for the movie, "Star Spangled Girl" starring Sandy Duncan? Having grown up in that era, I was kinda taken aback as to why he was chosen.

Maybe they let Maureen have a say and that's who she wanted. I always kind of wondered why they picked Desi Arnaz Jr for that other episode too. Who knows, huh?

Desi at that time was a hearthrob, had appeared on his mother's sitcom, and was being seen around tinseltown, dating celebs and whatnot. Somewhat like Hollywood royalty. But Davey???

Well, I think Davey was more popular with the teeny-boppers (Who were the BB's bread-and-butter fans) at the time, than Arnaz, who would have been more popular with older teens

But Mikado, Desi did appear in an early episode of BB, which made him a hearthrob for a young Marcia, whereas Davey was the fave for an older Marcia. Which would make sense since it would seem Marcia was watching the Monkees when she grew up.

This is probably one of my least favorite episodes. A few years ago, I heard
or read that Maureen, aka Marcia, was NOT a Davey Jones fan in real life.
One time, TV Land counted how many times the name Davey Jones was
mentioned in this episode, and if memory serves me right, it is over 30 times!
VERY annoying.

I remember that!! It was one of the special Pop Up Video episodes they had of The Brady Bunch. That, The Johnny Bravo episode, and a few others were featured as Pop Up Video episodes. Those were fun!!!

I love how Davey made an appearance in The Brady Bunch Movie to parallel the storyline in the actual TV show, and how none of the kids knew who he was, but all the moms were going crazy!! I love that movie in general...one of the few TV shows made into movies done right!!!

And then once you know it was said that many times you notice it more! At least I do.

I kind of like those pop up video episodes. They come up with some interesting tidbits sometimes.

I always hated the bubble sounds of those Pop Video episodes. Irritating beyond belief.

I don't know what was worse, Davey or that damn sound.
