Back To You - The Kelsey Grammer, Patricia Heaton Series Comes to DVD

Available to pre-order for a mid-October release

This past year saw Kelsey Grammer (Frasier, Cheers, Patricia Heaton (Everbody Loves Raymond, Women of the House) and Laura Marano (Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, The Sarah Silverman Program) star in the Fox sitcom Back To You. While we're not sure yet if the series is returning for a second season (the show wasn't picked up by the network, but as of recent weeks Grammer is still discussing with Fox the possible return of the series), it looks like Fox Home Entertainment is being optimistic and announcing the first season's episodes as coming to DVD under the title Back To You - Season 1 (an open-ended name, as opposed to "The Complete Series").

Overnight Amazon.com began taking pre-orders for this release, which they show as being available on October 14th. The price of $39.98 SRP is currently discounted to $27.99, for a 3-disc set running 291 minutes. That includes all 14 episodes which aired, plus 3 additional unaired episodes. We're also expecting some extras, but no details are available just yet. Stay tuned for that, and cover art (the picture at Amazon right now isn't it), just as soon as Fox makes them available!

The DVD is coming October 14 but what they posted about Fox still being interested in the show is for sure not true (old news from them trying to revive the series back in early June). I talked to Dave (TVShowsonDVD) about it already and just spoke to Kelsey's publicist, who said:

"TVShowsonDVD is not correct. All you have to do is check with Fox."

If Fox were interested something would have came about at the TCA press tour...

Not sure, but the actual cover art is not out yet. There have been times when canceled series changed from season one to complete series before, though.

Why would FOX even bother releasing a DVD season? Why bother putting time, money and effort making it since the show was canceled because it cost too much to air it?
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy that it's coming out on DVD. It just doesn't making sense.

It's all about money. The company just didn't think the show was working for them on television; now they're trying to milk it for all it's worth in the digital format.

I'm glad it's coming out, but I also wish new episodes were coming out as well!

Technically, they are 3 new episodes on the set since the last two episodes of season 1 and the first of what would've been season 2 are included on the set:]

Keep what you recorded. That politically incorrect comment about Polish heritage, that Marsh made, is permanently removed, per Fox. So that will be edited off.
