Here is a pic of me in front of the I dream of Jeannie house at the end of June 08 at the Warner Ranch. Thought some of you might like to see how it looks today.

Wow, that tree has really grown, hasn't it! How'd you happen to get a tour inside The WB Ranch? Most of the tours don't go in there - do they?

yup that tree is a bit bigger now. I have some other photos that I will post later of the house.
I went to the warner ranch with the bewitched fanfare group who got a once in a lifetime tour of the ranch which as I understand has been closed to the public for years.. I'm not sure how they got us access, I didn't want to look a gift horse in the mouth..haha |

Cool shot, it's rare that people not working on the backlot actually get in, and get photos! It hasn't changed much since last fall 2007. I was there working on a Lifetime TV shoot and got some great shots one of which is appearing in the collectible cards in the I Dream of Jeannie Complete Series Boxed set.

I took the Warner Brothers tour about 3 weeks ago. I knew from the get-go that it wouldn't go into the Ranch, but I did ask about it. There are actually two other WB sites other than the one right along Rt-134. One is the Ranch, and one is up in Culver City. The tour does not include either one....not even the "5 hour tour".

Yes I peeked inside the house they use it for some offices, my understanding is that none of the series was actually filmed inside the house. Most of the homes on this studio lot are just facades.

That house was originally used as the Bumstead's home in Columbia's "Blondie" movies from 1938 through '50. Eventually, it became the "Anderson" house on "FATHER KNOWS BEST" (1954-'60), and so on. All of the "houses" on that suburban block have been seen and utilized, at one time or another, in virtually every Screen Gems/Columbia TV sitcom from the mid-'50s through the early '70s. You weren't supposed to notice it was the same "neighborhood", but if you saw the shows often enough, you got the feeling you'd "seen that house before"....yes, they're just "facades", as actual filming took place at what's now the "Sunset-Gower Studios". For outdoor scenes, cast and crew would troop over to the "Columbia Ranch" and film there...

TV Knowledge Fan not all of the homes are facades. True back in the 60's the shows would film all their interiors back at Sunset Gower located a couple of blocks from Hollywood Blvd & then travel all the way to Burbank to film exteriors at the old Columbia Ranch now called The Warner ranch today. However, the I Dream Of Jeannie home is a real home used as an office. The homes next to the Bewitched house are also real homes and were used for indoor filming for the Lethal Weapon & the third & fourth Chevy Chase Vacation Films to name a few!

....most of the "homes" in that "Screen Gems neighborhood" (including the "Nelson house") DO have real offices and rooms inside, but I'm not sure that was the case over 40 years ago...
