Default Laughing at how TV land handled the use of the N-word last night during the marathon

In the episode-when george was blacked mailed which aired at 8:30pm, There was a scene at the end when George starts attacking the guy and the guy after getting kicked by George-"what's the matter with you n*GGER?? n And then 10 seconds later he says-"you crazy, you crazy, N*GGER"

TV Land hit the MUTE BUTTON during both times the guy said the N-word but in the another episode that aired at 10pm

Tom Willis was mad at George for calling him a honkey and said to George-"don't call me honkey, how would you like if I called you N*GGER??

Tv land didn;t MUTE the use of the word during that scene so what was the difference??????????????????????????????????_LOL

Those people at tv land are something else

My post is long Solomon, so bear with me.

Let me see, maybe because of the WAY it was said/meant by Tom was not offensive. The way the other guy said it WAS. Mind you, I don't think it should have been muted out. Back in the days, we had a lot of leeway with using certain words such as "N****" however the FCC and the whole censorship thing has gotten out of hand, so I am sure TVland didn't want to offend and get in trouble. Not that I don't think they would, but they probably didn't want to take a chance and have some screwball call in and complain. That is just my opinion.

Just some info, I was watching my DVD of Drew Carey's WHOSE LINE IS IT ANYWAY UNCENSORED and there was a scene where they were going to play a game called I AM IN LOVE WITH A GERBIL. The censor guy walked over to Drew and told him they had to change the word GERBIL. Drew was shocked as hell by that and told the audience they had to come up with some other word to replace GERBIL because the word GERBIL used in that sense wouldn't get past the ABC censors. Drew then looked at the camera and said, "Oh yeah, well F*** Y**!" I guess the whole rumor abt Richard Gere having had sex with a gerbil has screwed it up for everyone.
