Post The Waitresses RULE!!!

I loved the Square Pegs theme song, and the song I Know What Boy's Like. It's too bad the lead singer died so young.

Square pegs, square pegs, square, square, pegs!

Square pegs, square pegs, square, square, pegs!

Always never quite right.

Square pegs, square pegs, square, square, pegs!

Square pegs, square pegs, square, square, pegs!

I wanna wear my glasses, I can't wear my glasses.

Square pegs, square pegs, square, square, pegs!

Square pegs, square pegs, square, square, pegs!

One size does not fit all!

That song rocks! I love new wave.

Actually if you like the song, you should hear the extended version. It last a little over 3 minutes. I have it on CD.

Much like Square Pegs the Waitresses were smart, witty, and incredibly fun. You should try and get their first LP which is wall to wall brilliance, their 2nd and final LP (1983) isn't quite as good but it'd be tough to match the excellence of that first one.

The best Waitresses song is "Wise Up", try and get it off of napster, and if anyone REALLY needs it I'll be glad to email them. And yes, Patty Donahue died way too young, she was a genius!

I love new wave too!

if you love the Waitresses then check these out:

Slow Children - President Am I
Spring In Fialta

Missing Persons-Here and Now
Surrender Your Heart

Berlin-The Metro
Sex (I'm a...)

*Berlins "Pleasure Victim" LP was prominently played all throughout Square Pegs.

Sparks-Eaten By The Monster Of Love
Mickey Mouse

Go Go's-Beneath The Blue Sky
Our Lips Are Sealed

Fun Boy Three-Our Lips Are Sealed
Farmyard Connection

Psychedelic Furs-Love My Way
Dumb Waiters

B-52's-Give Me Back My Man
Whammy Kiss

Yaz (or Yazoo in the UK)-Only You
Midnight

Heaven 17-Let Me Go
Play To Win

The Cure-The Walk
Let's Go To Bed

Human League-Love Action
Empire State Human

Duran Duran-Reflex
Girls On Film

Siouxsie and the Banshees-Kiss Them For Me
Cities In Dust

Frank Zappa-Valley Girl
Teenage Prostitute

Oingo Boingo-Grey Matter
Gratitude

The Specials-Friday Night Saturday Morning
Stupid Marraige

Skafish-Joan Fan Club
Wild Night Tonight

Scott Goddard-Cowpunk

*this is a must have!

Bodysnatchers-Easy Life

Depeche Mode-New Life
Get the Balance Right

Devo-Peek-a-Boo
Jocko Homo

Pete Shelley-Homosapien
Many a Time

These are but a handful out of 100s of great new wave songs I love. I don't care what the critics say: 1979 to about 1984 was a very exciting time for music. I wish someone would've MP3'ed Johnny Slashs "I'm totally tired" song. That was so bitchen'

RIP-Merrick Butrick and Patty Donahue

Most people know the Waitresses first from that song I heard at Universal Studios Hollywood, interestingly in a possible remake:
I KNOW WHAT BOYS LIKE.

Dr.Demento may have possibly played it.
They came from Akron, Ohio.
RIP Patty

I am hoping TVLand does not talk over the song and cut it short at the end of the show like they did when they had a Square Pegs 80s marathon about a year ago. The theme music and credits are the finishing touches of the entire experience. But they have to cram their airtime with promos. It's a very irritating trend for all channels.

By the way, didnt the Waitresses have some Merry Christmas song too or was that someone else?

About a month ago I bought The Waitresses Millennium Collection cd. I bought it because of the Square Pegs theme, but I ended up loving the whole CD. It is too bad these guys didn't make more music together.

A great 80's album (on CD now naturally) is Holly and the Italians "The Right To Be Italian."

Yes, The Waitresses rule!!! One of the best 80's bands ever!! The early 80's new wave years were best. Forget big hair metal and early rap!!!

The theme song to Square Pegs is one of my favorites.

I second that. I wish they'd been around longer because they were a great band.

Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses is a classic. Don't know about the rest of the World but although the Waitresses never had any hits here and SP was only shown once on Channel 4 Saturday afternoons 1982 & 83, Christmas Wrapping is on virtually ALL UK Christmas compilation CDs and you will hear it in all shopping centres November and December. Great song.
