James Denton Returning to Desperate Housewives — But Single - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

If this season’s flash-forward finale of Desperate Housewives left fans in a fog as to whether Susan and Mike were still together, James Denton has both good and bad news.

“Mike and Susan have definitely split up,” Denton tells PEOPLE. But fear not, he says he will definitely be reporting for duty on the set. “I’m not sure exactly in what capacity. [Series creator] Marc Cherry is being a little cagey,” he says. “It’s going to be interesting to see what happens. But I will certainly be on the show. It’s a relief to me, trust me.”

During the show’s summer hiatus, Denton, 45, is enjoying a favorite pastime—baseball. He will be playing in the Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game on Sunday, July 13.

A veteran of the annual event, this year he will be joining the rest of the players at Yankee Stadium. And don’t be surprised if he and the pro baseball players talk about Desperate Housewives in the dugout.

“It’s unbelievable the number of ball players that actually watch the show,” Denton says. “Jeff Kent of the Los Angeles Dodgers came up to me and just volunteered that he never misses the show, watches it all the time.” –Jesse North

I kind of hate to see him & Susan split up. But not many people stay together on this show.

I think this is gonna be the death knell for the show, the jumping 5 years ahead.......

I agree. I don't like where the show is heading. I missed quite a few episodes this past season because of the strike so I might just quit watching altogether now.
