In most of the episodes I have seen, Wally's last name seems to be Blumstead (sounds close to Bumstead). And yet in a couple of others, he is referred to as Wally Dimple (or Dipple?). Just a curious thing.

In a couple episodes very early on when Wally Plumstead was first introduced, he went by the different last name. I'm not sure, but I don't think it was Dipple though, because in the early episodes Ozzie had a neighborhood friend who was Wally Dipple. Namely the episode with Wally Dipple's Garage Door opener. That one had Ozzie and Thorny locked in the Nelson garage when using Wally Dipple's automatic garage door opener that he invented.
So that was a whole other Wally, and He was Oz's age. I know in the earliest episodes I have seen Wally in he had a different last name which was mentioned only a couple times, which escapes me right now. His first appearance I think he was listed just as heavy boy or something like that, if I remember the credtus correctly. I'll to look it up. He didn't even have a first name. He was a guest at Dave's party when he first joined the fraturnity. I think Wally only had a couple lines at the end of the show. Come to think of it, I think he was eating cake and asking if there was more cake, or stating that it was very good cake. Something about cake comes to mind. In the episode The Exploding Book, I believe we get a different last name for Wally. It's not Plumstead in that episode. His mother is in that episode. Played by the actress who played Larry Mondello's mother on LITB. I think that is still from the first year or so that Skip was on the show. Later on, Skip Young asked if Plumstead could be used as Wally's last name because it was Skips real last name. I think his real first name was Ronald. But I'd have to check on that. |

I remember Wally Dipple! I believe he was played by the uncle or grandfather that was on Lassie. The garage door opener was a very funny episode. I guess he was really just ahead of his time with that invention. Wally Plumstead's mother was also on The Real McCoys, which I'm watching now. She was a great actress and on many, many shows.

I'm referring to Skip Young's Wally--who indeed went by more than one last name!
Oh Rich, where are you???
