I'm finally going to take the time to watch all nine seasons in order on DVD. I'm currently beginning the second disc of the second season.
Some notes: I never realized that Doug and Carrie had a dog. They got it at the end of "Dog Days" in season one and as of season two, they still have him. I don't know how I missed that before, lol. Also, this is the first time I'm watching many of these episodes after seeing the finale. So now, I know how the show ends when I watch the show. Not that it really affects the viewing, it's just nice to see the full picture this time. However, seeing the early ones, I'm kind of dissapointed that the show didn't end with Arthur simply moving out and Doug getting his basement back. Though clearly the Heffernans having a baby has been a theme throughout the whole show. Maybe I'll enjoy the final episode more when I've seen it following all the previous episodes. Ann Meara plays Spence's mom, however, she doesn't play her in the first episode to feature Spence's mom. However (again), she is in the episode, playing a different character, lol. When I'm done, I'll post the "Casts Per Episodes" that I do for some shows. Why? Because it's fun for me.

Maybe I'm crazy, but the exterior of the house doesn't seem to match the interior. Like when they're on the porch, but according to the exterior shot, there is no front porch!
I'm in early season three. Ricki Lake has made her debut. |

Some post-show observations:
When Arthur's house burned down in the pilot episode, all of his belongings were destroyed in the fire (except a hotplate). However, throughout the course of the show, he has many belongings that technically should have been destroyed. Such as old records and Carrie's college acceptance letter. Carrie got meaner and meaner as the show went on. People often wonder why would she stay with him, but I'm the opposite. I don't see how he could stand her. I found myself feeling that he could do better than Carrie, lol. Now early on they were great together. I'm just talking about mostly seasons 7-9. There was an episode in season 8, I'm thinking Holly's last regular episode where Carrie looks disgusted at her wedding ring and made a comment to Doug like "What were you thinking?" or something like that. But that's not her original ring. If you remember, she sold her ring in episode 7 or so, and picked out the new ring herself. Victor Raider-Wexler played Carrie's boss Mr. Kaplan at the lawfirm and in the final season, he played her boss Mr. Kaufman at the Real Estate place. That surprised me when I saw him walk into the office and he was a DIFFERENT character! |

Glad you are enjoying the show. I too am on season 2. I purchased my boxset abt two months ago. I had 4 seasons on DVD but quickly bought the boxset when I seen it on sale for 50% off.
![]() Keep your eye on that dog. ![]() How could Doug stay with Carrie? That is funny. He should be damn happy she put up with his lying which occurs throughout the show. She would catch him most of the time and be upset. Rightly so. Doug's behavior at times screams immaturity and if it weren't for Carrie putting him in his place and by yelling at him (to remind him), he'd never get it.

With that said, Carrie was obviously very generous letting her father live with them. I could see she loved him even though growing up he clearly wasn't the best father in the world. I'm not saying she was completley bad. She had an attitude. I admit, I loved it whenever Carrie would just sock Doug in the stomach. She did that about three times throughout the show. Most of my complaints about Carrie occured in the last three seasons. She was great in the first six and I could totally see why they were together. And for the record that first post is old. I just finished the series last night. That musical montage at the end is kind of emotional when you've watched the whole series. |

Yeah, there are a lot of problems like that... don't forget Carrie's sister just disappears after the first episode. I have just finished watching the complete series for third time. I have probably seen every episode randomly though 10 times. Edit: I agree with you about Carrie... people say she is too good looking for him and he couldn't be with her. However her attitude is here downfall where Doug's weight and lieing is his. So they compliment each other in that they are the only people that could tolerate each other. |

How cool! I'm doing the same thing with Seinfeld. Initially becuase I was trying to find a certain scene but now that I've found it, I can't stop!
But since we're talking about "King Of Queens", I am currently reading this book by Jerry Stiller called "Married to Laughter". I just started it a few days ago, but so far it's really interesting. It's a biography and the last chapter talks about Seinfeld. Out of curiosity I checked and KOK is mentioned but only in the context that he was asked to do the show. I don't remember when KOK first came on the air, but this book was published in 2000, which tells me that it was most likely written in 2008 or 2009, so maybe he hadn't started working on the show at that point.
