Batman star Christian Bale has declared he will quit the comic book movie franchise if producers ever decide to reintroduce the caped crusader's sidekick Robin.
Bale took on the role of the legendary action hero in 2005's Batman Begins and will be seen again in The Dark Knight, which is due for release later this month. However the actor is hoping that the character of Robin is not brought back into any of future Batman movies - because he will resign in protest. He says, "If Robin crops up in one of the new Batman films, I'll be chaining myself up somewhere and refusing to go to work." (This news article provided by World Entertainment News Network) |

Why would it hurt the Batman mythos by having Robin? If the character is done right, why not. They could do a darker version of Robin if they're worried about campiness.

Robin is part of the Batman Universe . He should live with it.

Keep Robin out of this Batman franchise.
Things got way too crowded the last time they introduced Robin. |

I can understand not liking Robin, but to quit the franchise over it? Nope.
I'd like to see Robin done right in a future film. By the time Robin joined the other franchise, it had gotten sillier and brighter and had Jim Carrey in it, lol. If they kept the movie dark, went with a little bit younger Robin, I say go for it. Robin is a part of the Batman legacy, whether you like it or not. In my opinion, it wasn't Robin that made the previous films too crowded. It was having two over the top villains, a girlfriend for Bruce, and later Batgirl, another girlfriend for Bruce, three villains (two over the top, the third one who just grunted). The movies were out of control and clearly needed to be put out of their misery. But yeah, if they did it right, Robin would be a welcomed addition. |

Christian Bale should realize that he is not irreplaceable.

What surprised me is when I heard (via the special edition DVD) Warner Bros. didn't want Tim Burton back for a third "Batman" film. Yet, they were willing to do a third Joel Schumaker "Batman" film, but he declined the offer. THEY WANTED MORE SCHUMAKER "BATMAN" MOVIES! |

Both The Riddler and Two-Face were acting too much like The Joker. As for the movie "Batman Forever", it was okay, but it would have been so much better with Michael Keaton in the role of Batman. I'm not a fan of changing actors but keeping the characters. In this case, of course, they'll keep the character of Batman in the franchise. I understand that. I just didn't like that Keaton left the role. It really didn't matter who replaced him. I still wouldn't have been happy. BTW, I like The Riddler and Two-Face much better from "The Animated Series." That's how they should have done those characters in the film. |
