Default Color commercials only on Mill Creek Set!

Well the confusing world of collecting O&H continues....I finally got to disc 12 on the mill creek set this weekend, yes I have proudly watched them slowly in order.....being a collector....and owning many 16mm films of O&H shows, I always understood that many color episodes are only available in black & white on the "PD" collections, since many smaller TV stations weren't capable of broadcasting in color in 1966, so they were given black & white films. Well I get to "The Prowler" which is also seen in beautiful but edited color on the first shout set. On The Mill Creek set "The Prowler" is totally unedited with the original commercials, two of which are in color! But the episode is not......which asks the question......wouldn't the station been provided with a complete black & white film if it couldn't broadcast in color? and if it could, why wouldn't the "O&H" episode be in color? Lastly since both episodes appear on the mill creek and authorized shout sets, it adds more to the theory that most likely all 435 episodes are in the public domain.....alright experts weigh in....we've been too quiet lately.....lastly I hopefully will soon proudly have a picture of the "Ozzie Nelson Drive" street sign as my avatar which explained in another thread is really a street dedicated to OZ in Ridgefield Park, NJ which I live 5 minutes from!

Thanks TeeVee for that tidbit! I'm still going in order (for the most part) on my Mill Creek set. By the time I finish that set, it should be time for the new Shout! set to come in

The Mill Creek set is really quite good, and well abv the avg DVD O&H set - the only set I've seen that's nicer is the Shout! set. Can hardly wait to see your new av!

I have given up on trying to figure it all out. I am changing my way of dealing with it and considering everything from from here on out, will be a ''surprise''.

For example, the first Ozzie aired on Me Too this morning and acc to TV Guide was supposed to be ''Halloween Party'', but appears to have been ''No News For Harriet''. SURPRISE !!!

I guess the best to hope for with these Me Too airings will be quality upgrades and maybe some un-cut episodes of the same ones shown over and over and over.

Hey, at least SOMEBODY is showing it, right? SURPRISE !!!

I get a kick out of the episode: " No News for Harriet". The first scene has Ozzie and Joe Randolph at the ice cream fountain in the middle of the day. Not only didn't Ozzie work, it seems Joe was cashing a few unemployment checks.

Maybe it's the same episodes they show over and over on ION that I get. The tv listings just say "paid programming", so you never know what show will be on. They show the episode at 9:30 am and 11pm.

ION's "alternate" feed only has public domain episodes.

Well a season 1 episode replaced with a season 8 episode!...oh well...I'm afraid what I suspected all along that the ME airings will all be common public domain episodes, especially because again of the time slot that the show was given......too bad I was beginning to believe the TV guide listings, but I believe that when a station airs Ozzie and doesn't provide actual program titles, TV Guide goes back to their archives and just lists the original syndication package titles perhaps. All just a guess.......

Sounds feasible regarding TV Guide and the listings.

I will try to pinpoint which one airs tonight and see what the pattern will be.

You are probably correct, though. So, I guess I should be looking for, "Lonesome Parents" and "The Fraternity Rents Out A Room" and "A Lamp For Dave & June" to be on real soon, huh?

Probably. That's how Ion works too. You just never know what you'll get.
At least you get to see the shows. They took them off Ion for about a year and I sure was glad to see them return, even if I do have them and have seen them so many times. it's just comforting to see them on tv.

The only time I have ever seen O&H broadcast on my own TV [other than my tapes & dvd's] was the original run and on one of those info channels, probably 6-8 years ago. I am not sure if it was ION or not, but for a time they ran O&H, Love That Bob and Dobie Gillis. Once I found out about it I nabbed 2 whole episodes. Two of the afore mentioned episodes I did not have Disney when O&H were on there, as it was a pay channel with our cable. And even though my kids were young and would have enjoyed it, I was a stay-at-home-mom and we never paid to have it. Eventually, it became a part of our cable, but the O&H run was already over.

My first exposure to O&H was actually "Ozzie's Girls", then when I got cable in 1980 Superstation TBS ran O&H weekdays at 4:35PM eastern (in those days they started the shows 5 minutes later than normal), my next exposure came during "The Disney Channel" airings.

But back to ME TV I wanted to add that this is not the first time they have run O&H, I had a contact about 4 years ago record another show for me and I remember they use to run O&H in the middle of the night, another clue that this is just a PD package.

TBS was not on my cable line-up 24-hours a day when O&H was on there, either. Our cable would run TBS in the middle of the night, but not sure when it became available 24-hours.

I just kept missing O&H, at every turn. I did watch Ozzie's Girl's though when it was on originally, and I actually enjoyed it.

And, I did read just the other day when they announced the new schedule that O&H had been on Me TV previously. I don't think I was even aware of Me TV until earlier this year when I saw the post that Patty Duke was airing uncut and I began researching it.
