Default David Hyde Pierce, "I don't think a reunion show (Frasier) is a good idea."

While David Hyde Pierce was singing and dancing on Broadway, producers were trying to woo him back to prime-time. "People have approached me about going back to TV," he said. "Basically, I said to them, 'I'm happy to look at scripts, but I don't want to go back to television.'"

At age 49, Pierce wants to do more theater.

"Curtains," the musical whodunit he starred in and won a Tony Award for, ended a 16-month run yesterday. In the spring, he returns to Broadway in a revival of the 1934 comedy "Accent on Youth."

"In between, I'll take some time off," he said. "I haven't had a break since 'Frasier.'"

For fans of the sitcom, Pierce will always be Niles Crane. During the show's 11-year run, he won four Emmy Awards playing the fussy Seattle shrink.

But it's not a role he wants to revisit.

"I don't think a reunion show is a good idea," Pierce said. "People understandably have a desire for more of these characters, but the reality won't meet the dream."

I think this show wrapped nicely enough that there is no need. If there weren't already 11 seasons it might be different. They told a lot of stories, and I feel very satisfied with the amount of material I can watch featuring these characters. Not to mention that I can watch Frasier on Cheers. I can't believe how many episodes I own featuring his character as compared to any other character on any other show. (If IMDb is correct, 465 episodes, including Cheers, Frasier, and one episode of Wings. The next closest is Joey from Friends and his spin-off at 285.)

On somewhat of a side note, I'm sure NBC would love to do it, they'd probably even do another spin-off at this point. It's a shame to have 22 years of a sure thing and then it's over. It's like a franchise.

A reunion as such might be out of the question but if they could get Kelsey to agree to a spin-off you might find DHP and others willing to do guest shots.

... And if Eddie ever drank from the toilet bowl, I'm glad we didn't know it!

Default Also with respect to DHP

Didn't David also say after he was accepted for the part of Niles that he got the script afterwards, read it and thought to himself, "Why do they need two Frasiers?" (referring to his role as Niles being too close to the role of Frasier)? He later admitted, "Boy was I wrong."

I have to agree that a reunion show might be kind of awkward and definitely wouldn't live up to the show itself.

Though it would be interesting to see where the characters would be nearly seven years later.

In an episode I just watched, Daphne (or Frasier, I can't remember whom) asks where Eddie is and Martin replies that he's in the bathroom getting a drink!

That's true... but that's what fan fiction is for! Wow, I can't believe it's already been 7 years since Frasier "left the building", but what's even more amazing is that I'm just now falling in love with it. The good thing about that is that I can watch the entire series without having the agonizing wait for a week in-between episodes!
